Have been running a few of these for almost a year now--one stick just failed others have continued flawlessly. RMA department is AWESOME. [...] Couldn't be more pleased. As far as performance goes, I run photo and digital video editing software regularly and without any problems. Speed and data reliability increased dramatically from some no name sticks of the same memory speed. Overall I am very pleased with this memory and the warranty department.

The website claimed a memory upgrade would make a greater differance than a CPU upgrade and I am sure they are right! I put in 4 GB of 8500 speed ram like the website recommended and now my desktop works much faster bringing up web pages and playing games.

Ran beautifully for 2-1/2 months, then BSOD's & random reboots started. I chased my tail updating drivers and reinstalling OS before trying the obvious and replaced RAM.

To Crucial's credit, they got me a replacement set right away and it works great. I even ordered another set to max it out.

Comments about Crucial 1GB, Ballistix 240-pin DIMM, DDR2 PC2-8500,:

I removed the factory-installed 1GB of RAM from my Gateway computer, and installed (2) 1GB sticks of this memory. It's a night and day difference. It turned a system that would barely run Vista into a heavyweight hitter! I can now run programs like Pro/Engineer, which was almost impossible before. Everything is much faster, and programs don't hang up like before. I didn't think simply doubling the amount of memory would make this much difference. I am pleasantly surprised!

I've just built two DeskTop PC's that both use
2 x 1 GB DDR2 PC2-8500 Memory Stick (Ballistix 240-pin DIMM). No problems with installation, WinXP sees all 2 GB, and Memory benchmarks (Everest) are appropriate.

Comments about Crucial 1GB, Ballistix 240-pin DIMM, DDR2 PC2-8500,:

As a professional audio engineer I need reliable performance. For the past decade I've relied on Crucial RAM but tried RAM from a different, highly respected, company on a new system. Initially the sticks were defective but the manufacturer was outstanding in rushing out a replacement. A year later the replacement RAM failed and is now out of warranty. I never have experienced that problem with Crucial and, frankly, notice absolutely no difference in speed pro or con. Crucial RAM was a little less expensive, too. I don't know about gamers or overclockers but, for those in need of solid, reliable performance for professional applications, I'd recommend this stuff.

I like that you can get 3 different types for what you want to use the memory for. For a few dollars you can move up in quality and size. My new system is flying. Memory is one of the important components that you shouldn't halfstep on.
