There is no longer a lag when switching between applications, and the increased memory available for read-ahead cache has boosted performance in loading applications.This will definitely help keep MY machine useful for another 4 years.Worth noting: You need at least 4GB available for the sleep image. I noticed that the first time I used safe sleep to warm-swap batteries, reading the sleep image from the disk failed & the machine simply rebooted. This ram replaced the old, smaller 1 gb ram chips perfectly... Although I finally got them in, I SWEAR the memory modules were slightly thicker. I could reinsert the old ones just fine but had real issues with the new ones, the top one kept popping out. Took the stickers off to decrease the thickness even slightly and they stayed in...but they did not seem to be exactly the right size. This was my second purchase as my first recommendation was incorrect and the slats did not line up! However, a lot cheaper than buying from Apple, so....

I've purchased many memory upgrades from Crucial, and have had no issues whatsoever with any of their products. I used this kit to upgrade my MacBook Pro(2008) from 2 to 4GB. There was a noticeable increase in performance. This was especially true in using Aperture 3.1. The application loads faster and processes pictures much faster. I use virtual machines on my MBP all the time for testing. Switching in and out of virtual machines and running big programs like Photoshop would often bring my computer to a halt. Upgrading my ram to 4gb's changed all that. I should have upgraded a long time ago. This saves so much time and frustration being able to run the programs side-by-side and being able to switch in between them easily.

It took me a couple tries when putting in the RAM because I was being too light with it, but once I got the cards plugged in right the computer has been very speedy since.

The easiest thing you can do to speed things up. I doubled my Macbook Pro RAM, and halved my frustrations. Works great.

Crucial's tool for determining which memory card was great. There are so many subdivisions of Macbook models that I'm never entirely sure which one I have. The Crucial app worked as advertised; I got the right memory, and it went right in.

There weren't any instructions that came with the upgraded memory to install so I went online followed directions, took me many tries to get it right almost an hour but once I did it worked like a dream!

No issues with installation instructions but my Power Book with Snow Leopard did not want to recognize the new memory. I had to switch back and forth multiple time between the old (2 GB) and new (4 GB) before it finally worked. Not an issue with the product, probably an issue with my MAC. It takes a small jewelers screw driver to get into the memory compartment of the Mac, but otherwise it was all plug and play. Memory was about half the price of buying from the Apple store!

I needed to increase the RAM in my 3 year old MacBook Pro. The "preferred" way is to replace the one memory chip in the laptop with two that "match" and Crucial is the preferred provider. The guy in the Apple store "showed me how to install them" then he "showed me how to check what was wrong" since the computer wouldn't boot up with both installed. It would with each individually but not if both were installed. He said it was odd but not impossible that both were faulty in some way. The return and replacement process was easy once I got past the gal explaining to me that this just was a mistake of some sort. I think the mistake is getting computer parts through the mail and expecting that there won't be a hitch.

I purchased the above memory for my daughter's college laptop. I did not have the actual machine with me so I was not able to use Crucial's very reliable memory matcher.[...] I carefully followed the on-line instructions (video) which were helpful even though the tech was using a PC not a Mac. I did experience a small problem with the memory after installation because the computer did not recognize it. I thought the memory was the wrong one, so I called customer service to exchange it and I talked with a tech who assured me I had the right one. He was extremely patient with me and helped me put the memory in farther than I had it. I was probably being too careful and did not insert it deeply enough.

The software determining the correct hardware simplified the decision3. Quickly added double my computing power for half the price of what Apple would've charged me for the same thing. Recommended if you're going to be using Logic Studio like me. Projects now load twice as fast. Nice :)

Tip: Just put your old ram in the package for safe keeping in case you have to bring your computer in for repairs. All you gotta do is swap them back out again and your warranty won't be voided.

I often run several pieces of software at a time. Sometimes word processing applications delayed when typing. I wanted everything to work as I worked. Upgrading my memory to 4 gig did the trick.
The best part was Crucial's downloadable system scan. I felt sure I would get the memory I needed since Apple had replaced a faulty PowerBook with a new MBP right before a model change. I wanted to feel secure about the product.

It's okay RAM. I purchased it for gaming in particular The Sims 3 but should have done a little more research on gaming RAM I suppose. I believe this RAM to be reliable though. Crucial has a pretty good reputation for making great products. I should have dug a little deeper.

Regrettably, I'd tried upgrading the memory of this Mac Book Pro with another product which was available locally. It turned out that either of the 2GB modules would work as long as one of the original 1GB modules was installed. However, when both were installed for the desired 4GB, the computer wouldn't boot up. Installing the Crucial memory was a snap, and the computer booted normally. Reliability to date has been great.

The modules were really easy to install. You could see the increased performance from the moment you installed and re-started the Laptop.

I emulate Windows with Fusion and the 2 GB version on my MAC caused my machine to hang and slow down. Now it works like a charm.

Turning my Macbook PRO into a 4GB was well worth the cost.

Just make sure you buy the screwdriver to insure an easy install.

I use my computer primarily for photo and school work. Immediately after the install, I noticed that my computer was faster. It was most noticeable when running more than one program.

Note, the install is really easy, but make sure you have the modules pushed ALL the way into the slots. If not, your computer will make a warning sound.

The memory is exactly as advertised... all of the stats check out on my computer as the website claimed. I had 2gb of RAM and the 4gb is really noticeable while playing games on Windows, running AutoCad and other programs on Windows and even while running Mac OS. I went from 2GB to 4GB, and wow - what a difference. This kit is a no-brainer. Easy to install, and my Mac Book Pro 2.4Ghz runs way better - I can have several applications, including photoshop, open at the same time with no lag.

I've needed to run a program for work on windows xp, this makes vmware fusion run smoothly, whereas before it was much choppier. Fantastic product, especially for the price.

Micron's price was much less than Apple's price.....performance gain as expected. Going to 4G memory allows much more effective use of VM Fusion virtual engine.

As usual, Crucial delievers. Cheapest Mac RAM I found anywhere (even cheaper than [@] )as I was looking to upgrade my MacBook Pro from 2GB DDR2 PC2-5300 to 4 GB. Since it was so cheap I figured I'd spring a bit more for 2 day shipping and it was delivered on the day they said it would be 2 business days later. I'm a hard core home and business user and always use Crucial for my gaming and work rigs. Don't be fooled by the hype of the other much more expensive brands out there, Crucial provides good, solid performance and reliability at what is usually an unbeatable price. The reason I gave it 4 out of 5 is simply because I feel not much in this world deserves or lives up to a "perfect" score. I reserve that type of praise only for my wife and daughters! I bought this to help me out in After Effects. It did to a certain degree but it still wasn't enough for me to render our my project. That's not the rams fault though, my macbook pro can only take a maximum of 4 gigs and for me to render out the project I need a workstation. I did notice a huge increase in performance all around and found this buy to be completely worth it.

I was excited to find that the price of the memory was so cheap for a 4GB kit. Crucial delivered on time, and I have had no issues with the memory install. For those of you who do not know why Apple's memory is so expensive. An Apple store tech told me it is because if you buy Apple's memory for the MacBook Pro the memory is then covered under warranty. Other memory is not covered by the Mac's warranty. Fortunately installing other memory doesn't void the warranty.
FYI if you have a Mac that is a model that begins with MBP, it requires special memory. Crucial's memory worked flawlessly. I recommend saving yourself some time by ordering from Crucial.

Everything works great with the new memory, my computer is running a lot faster and smoother. The only problem is that my laptop crashed one time and I had to take out the memory and put it back in in order for it to work again.

easy to install. dont forget to have a mini screwdriver! i was assed out when i tried to install it. i had to go to the gas station to get a eyeglass repair kit to use the screwdriver.

I have been happy with this product. However, they caused me a little heartache because in the invoioce that was emailed to me, as well as mailed with the product, it said it was for a macbook pro. I don't know enough about computers to know that it was still the right one for my computer. Lucky for me, I have a brother-in-law that is a computer programmer for his profession, so he convinced me it would be alright. And it was. It was just confusing because it didn't say anything about it being compatible with both computers on the website when I bought it. I thought they had screwed it up, but they didn't. Just confused me.

I was very surprised at this product. I thought my iMac upgrade was going to be an expensive one.

I ran several applications at once, along w/ my AV and burning a CD. I noticed no lag time what so ever and was very very impressed with the performance of the RAM.

You cannot find more bang for the buck anywhere else. Now my Imac is maxed to 4gb and I couldnt be happier! Thanks Crucial!

While the performance in a jump from 2gb to 4gb is not as much as the jump from 1 to 2, I definately notice a difference in the performance of my pro applications like photoshop and aperture. Great product and great reliability.
