The limit of applications I can use now without the computer taking much virtual memory has obviously increased so the computer is more useable. However, I still reach the point where the RAM is full, so I should perhaps have brought even more RAM.

Being disabled I could not install the new memory myself, but thankful Apple are good at making things simple, and that means it was easy to explain to the carer who helped me. The only difficulty was getting the new memory in the right order. Larger memory sticks must be in matched couple, and all the larger memory must be first in line. If the cards are in the wrong order the MacPro just ignores them!

I bought the MacPro with 2x1GB DIMMs as factory fit. I bought 2x 2GB DIMMs to take total capacity to 6GB as I was running out of RAM when running Aperture, Photoshop and normal background apps.

The new RAM came faster than I expected and looks identical to Apple's own RAM so I'm confident on the thermal quality. Since install, I've not noticed my Mac running any hotter and it's just as stable as before.

One hint - if you are not matching RAM pairs (ie 2x 2GB plus 2x 1GB rather than 4x 1GB ) then put the 2GB DIMMS in slots 1 or 2 in each riser. Then move the 1GB DIMMs to slots 3 or 4 in the riser. If you put all the RAM in slots 1 and 2 of each riser, your Mac only reports 4GB total as it ignores the 1GB DIMMs. Moving the 1GB DIMMs to the end of the riser left the machine reporting 6GB correctly.

Easily trippled the speed of my MacPro dual Quad Core 3.2 GHz tower from its basic 2 Gb RAM. Navagating my extensive photo collection in Lightroom is a much more pleasureable experience and editing times have been halved thanks to the increase in speed.

Clearly this is a good product and at the proper price, rather than being ripped of my a large fruit based computer manufacturer.

I upgraded ram in mac pro from 6GB to 16GB. significant improvement in performance when running multiple applications. I purchased it principally for greater recording, editing and mixing performance in Logic Pro, but the machine now works like a dream in day to day use too, e.g. audio / video conversions in handbrake and toast run capably in the background when working in Aperture.

This memory is exactly the same as the original installed by Apple, only at a fraction of the price, I'd advise anyone to purchase their Mac Pro with the basic memory configuration and then use Crucial to upgrade to more, I will be getting another 4Gb shortly to take the ram in my Mac Pro up to 12Gb, and all applications especially Lightroom and Photoshop CS4 when running side by side fly.

I compose film and TV music and have just upgraded from a pretty quick PC to an 8 core Xeon Intel Mac Pro. I got the off-the-shelf version and decided to upgrade myself as the manufacturer's prices are ridiculous!

The RAM itself was super easy to install and I've had no problems with it at all.

If there are any down-sides then it's that I expected a more noticable improvement in speed going from 2GB up to 6GB. However, to be fair I am running everything from the supplied 320GB HD at th moment, which is always going to slow things up when you work with intensive programs and large audio sample libraries. I have just got a 2nd 500GB HD which I can transfer my libraries to, leaving far less strain on the program drive. I'm sure this will help!

Waited for several months for this to be back in stock. Ordered 2 kits 4 x 2Gb and have not been disappointed. Think I may order another 2 kits :-)

I'm also using the 2 x 1Gb for a total of 10Gb and have to say I'm very happy with the increased performance, especially in Aperture and Garageband.

It's the same OEM memory module that the computer manufacturer fits, just with a Crucial sticker over the top. Key point is its a considerable price saving over the factory fitted memory. Which makes it perfect. Can't lose. Total no-brainer purchase. Thanks Crucial!

Needed to upgrade my standard Mac Pro from 2Gb RAM to 6Gb RAM so purchased two 2Gb memory modules from Crucial. Great value for money and identical to the Apple supplied RAM. Comes with its own heat sink, and couldn't be easier to install. Highly recommended, and will buy from Crucial again.

...everything seems fine, PS runs faster, which is all I wanted - no problems as yet, really simple to instal, using either Mac or Crucial's instructions. If I can do it anyone can.
Modules feel quality unlike other I have held.
So no far all fine
