Generally speaking, parts is parts. But with RAM you can end up getting something that SHOULD work but doesn't, unless you buy it from Crucial. The prices are competitive and their site makes it easy to know that you're ordering the right thing.

Put off this upgrade out of fear of making my computer run even slower than it's snail pace or destroying my computer completely. To my surprise it took a total of under 1 minute, just two screws out, pop in the memory and retighten the screws. The computer's reaction was immediate...Superfast!
