We inherited this 2002 laptop but it would barely launch Windows XP. After the memory upgrade my machine's performance increased quite a bit such that Windows XP launches faster. Machine is actually usable now albeit noticeably slower than my newer computers. Surfs nicely and does email well. Very pleased that after a very quick search at Crucial, the 512 Mb memory card I received fit in the machine and the increased memory was recognized. I view this as no small success because initially I spent a very long time on the telephone with the computer manufacturer only to receive a memory card that did not fit. Might buy some more memory from Crucial if we start using the machine more. Although I only have this one experience, [...] Crucial seems like a good company.

I installed the memory chips with no problems. I powered up the computer, when it asked about change memory, I answered yes and the laptop booted up with no errors and has been performing flawlessly. I continulously run multiple programs, word, excel or other software needed for work with no problem. Before the upgrade the computer would "freeze". As always, I am a satisfied customer.

This is a long-obsolete PC that has been assigned music-server duties. It chokes, just playing iTunes! The upgrade from 250 to 1 Gig helped, but did not solve the problem completely. Crucial's "What-Fits-What" guide very helpful.

I read the reviews on Crucial about this memory module and most mentioned that it worked on the Inspiron 1100. I'm very happy to increase my memory from 128mb to 640mb. I think I'm going to by another 512 so I can have 1gb RAM. I would buy from here again.

I tried to install 512K in A bay and it did not work. When I switched to B bay and left the current 128K in the A bay it worked. This is more to do with my old Inspiron 1100 Dell. Once installed it worked faster which is why I made the investment.

I was hesitant to pay [$] for some RAM but it has improved the reliability of my computer in that it doesn't freeze up any more. I also have to give Crucial credit for making the entire process so easy and fool-proof. I've never installed RAM before and this was super easy.

Upgraded system memory on an old laptop from 256 MB to 1GB (max). More memory is always better. And this is.
Earlier I bought less expensive (Kingston) memory from competitor site. New DIMMS somehow managed to corrupt my hard drive so that it was un-bootable. Paid a little more at Crucial and had no problems.

I was contemplating getting a new laptop to replace my ancient but reliable Dell Inspiron 1100. However, I took the chance that a memory upgrade would speed things up. Within 5 minutes I had the old memory out and the new memory in. My old reliable laptop is now much faster and i will probably use it for another couple of years ( as long as the hard drive holds out), all for minimal expense as opposed to purchasing a new notebook.
