I upgraded my iMac (2007) to the Snow leopard, then it slowed down. I spoke with someone from the Apple Store and they said upgrading the RAM would probably help since the minimum system requirement is 1G and that's what my computer had. They didn't carry the upgraded RAM so I looked on-line and found it. I installed it and my computer works like a MAC again.

My older iMac was a bit sluggish, especially when multiple applications were open. Trying to run Parallels was difficult. I knew what I needed to do and did it. I went to Crucial and bought more RAM. I was impressed by the low price, half of what I paid for 512 MBytes. when I bought the iMac, originally. I maxed out the memory, with 2 GBytes. It's much faster now, just what I wanted.

I had a little trouble installing but only because I'm a software guy and a bit paranoid about anything that requires screw drivers. Once I read the Apple documentation it was easy and the memory was half the price or less than what I would have been charged elsewhere.

The Mac System Scanner worked nicely to identify how much memory I had and the maximum my machine could support. The web site recommended a very affordable update to get me to the maximum memory. My iMac runs great with the extra memory installed.

It was easy to swap the old chips and install the new ones. MAybe 10 minutes. The best part was the Crucial on-line diagnosis to assure the right chips were ordered. A good value.

I purchased this part, at the suggestion of an Apple Store technician, to increase the speed of my 17" iMac. It was cheap ([$] and easy to install (online directions fine for a novice computer user). And the computer is definitely running faster in booting up, transferring data from the internet and running the basic applications that I use (Safari, Word, iPhoto, iTunes).

Lots of open windows. . .gmail, Macmail, Firefox, iPhoto, iTunes.

If nothing else, the shutdown speed is incredible. Everything just folds in on itself.

Considering the price of the memory (22.00 or so as I remember) and the installation done by my grandson. Well, quite a bargain.

I upgraded to 2 Gig of ram, each stick worth 1 Gig each. My iMac had a 1 Gig stick and a 512 Mb. After replacing the 1G with the 512Mb, I noticed a definite improvement in speed and performance. I especially saw this while playing the X-Plane 9 game!

I had to go online for installation instructions. Quick install and speeds things up. Save your old chips so if you ever need Apple to work on your computer you can swap them out. Non Apple chips void the warranty.
Would highly recommend as these chips work great for about half of what Apple charges.

To be honest, i was told about Crucial by a Mac Genius @ one of their stores. Although i was skeptical about buying something for my mac that wasnt made by mac, i am very pleased and have informed my father and brother, both who have purchase more RAM for their computers as a result of how happy i was. Especially with the fact that it is so inexpensive to do so (compared to mac prices)> defiantly buy these they are great and my computer has NO lag what-so-ever!!!!
