I bought this memory for an early 2008 Mac book Pro (Silver keyboard) and the price can't be beat especially when compared to purchasing directly from Apple.
I had difficulty finding the install instructions for my laptop on Crucial's website, but I found a good video on YouTube.
I also suggest you buy the screwdriver offered at checkout. It's very handy and the size is probably not one you'd have laying around.

Most notable difference is when using Parallels and Windows XP. Changed it where before I did not like using the Windows side of my Mac as it was too slow. The additional memory has changed all that for the better.

I could go on and rave about how magical and amazing this memory is, but that's disingenuous. the reality is that it's solid, invisible, reliable, and completely forgettable.
I bought a Mac after 25 years of running PCs because I wanted something that just worked without fail or question, and after installing this memory, my Mac continues to meet my high expectations.

the only downside is that while installing the memory I stripped one of the tiny screws Apple uses on their chasis. If Crucial did an impulse-item for a $1.50 screwdriver that works on those screws during checkout, I'd buy it in a second.

Need better part number verification, I had to call Tech Support to ensure that I got the right parts for both of my MacBook Pro, different model, laptops. I could not tell which one belong in which one even though both sets of RAM worked. This caused me confusion if there WAS a difference between them. Better labels or invoice differentiation for which set of RAM would be for what system.

Yes it definitely helps. Its has improved the viewing and manipulation of DICOM files. It makes operation faster and smoother. It's cheaper than buying it from Apple; it's about half the cost. It doesn't have the ECC bit and the Apple does but I'm not even sure how much of a difference that makes. So far I think it was a good purchase.

No need for RAM upgrade as I use a MAC. Having said that, upgrading was so easy, why not prolong the life of my MAC, for several more years by upgrading the RAM. Super easy to get the exact match on RAM. Putting it in was a breeze. Will never buy RAM anyplace else.

I installed this to double my RAM immediately before installing VMware Fusion 2 with Windows XP Professional. I partitioned off a gigabyte for Windows, and thus my performance is not as enhanced as it could otherwise be if I was still running only Leopard.

Had a minor snafu about 15 minutes after installing XP--MBP overheated and beeped angrily at me for a while. Hasn't happened since, though I've also been careful to keep the fan on my chillmat running when I am using both OSes.

It's much cheaper than local retails. However, Canadian customs chage on this not only taxes but also FEE. It's not Crucial's fault, but if you are Canaden customer and your order is small, just be careful. After adding up everything, it is still reasonable price. If you do not have time to go to local retail stores, go for it.

No issues at all - wonderful hardware. Make sure you have the proper size screw driver (size 00 philips) or you will strip the screws and make it nearly impossible to open the door to the RAM area....without a drill. That's right, a drill. My MacBook Pro survived to tell the story and is purring like a puma with it's new memory.

This was a great upgrade from the standard 2GB that came with my Macbook Pro. I run multiple virtual machines at the same time using VMfusion and the additional memory makes that possible. I have been using Crucial memory in my computers for years and have always had good success with it.

I often have Safari, Itunes, Adium, along with another program or two open all at once. I also have to open VMware from time to time.

Before I upgraded from 2GB to the Crucial 4GB, I would experience a good deal of slow down after a few hours of use. My system would run out of room and start to page out a lot more. The hard drive would start getting noisy and I would experience some slowdown.

Ever since I installed the ram everything runs incredibly smooth and the hard drive gets much less use. My system doesn't ever have to page-out to the hard drive which is great. I've had my system on for several hours and even now the page-out still reads 0 bytes! This is after using VMware earlier and several hours of Safari and Itunes usage. I also noticed smoother and snappier boot-ups and snappier menus. High Definition Quicktime movies also run much more smoothly when I'm using other programs such as Safari. Incredible upgrade for the price. Highly Recommended!

I bought this before I got my MacBook Pro to bump up the memory from 2GB to 4GB. I had about 1 day to play with it before I upgraded it to 4GB and since nothing was installed on my machine, I really couldn't tell the difference but that's only because I never tried to push the memory. I did notice there is way less swapping going on and I haven't had any issues with this.

it was so easy to install. the only problem was getting a scew driver small enough. that took me 45 minutes and the installation took 3 minutes. go with crucial!
