Thinking of replacing my Toshiba M300 I realised that a simple memory upgrade might be the answer - and it was. Performance is now a lot faster and I will hang on to it for a while yet.

The extra memory has more than doubled the speed of my laptop and came at a great price. I'm now seriously considering buying more memory for my other equipment. I can't think why I spent all that time trying to make it go faster by keeping it clean of spyware etc.,not always very successfully, when all it needed was more memory!
