Having ZERO experience taking apart my laptop, I was hoping this would be easy. At first my computer would not operate, but I found I had not "plugged in" the memory hard enough! My macbook's original ram gave out on me so I called around to get repair info. Called many computer repair shops and stores and they all said same thing. Crucial is the way to go when replacing or upgrading your mac's ram. I was also quoted a very high price for the ram to be installed for me at a repair shop. I found this website and filled out info and was pleased to find out that I could double my original ram myself for a fraction of the price they quoted me. I recieved my parts in mail with easy instructions,installed the ram,and powered on and that was it.The parts were a little pricey but totally worth it. I have always believe that you get what you pay for. You already have a mac so why put cheap parts in it now? Completely happy with purchase and will come back whenever I have needs in this area for any of my computers. thnx

The Windows VM on my Mac Book Pro now launches and runs much faster. Putting my laptop to sleep now takes about 15 seconds, instead of a couple minutes, and waking again after in sleep mode is nearly instantaneous. Less expensive options were available, but Crucial came highly recommended to me. I was not disappointed.

I mainly use my MacBook Pro for internet surfing, managing pictures in iPhoto and managing music in iTunes. It is not uncommon for me to have 3 or 4 Safari windows, iTunes and iPhoto opened.

Every now and then I noticed windows took a little longer to open or switch between. Knowing I only had 1 gig of 5300 ram. I decided to upgrade to 4 gig of 5300 to fix the problem.
All the multi tasking I was doing must not have maxed out the1 gig I previously had because I have not seen much of a performance gain.

The one thing I did to get a dramatic increase in performance was take the MacBook to the Apple store. They fixed a few permissions errors, fixing the minor instability and slowness opening programs.

In conclusion, if you are only working with 3-4 safari windows, iTunes, and iPhoto, your largest gain will be in your e-ego. (i have more ram than you).

if you only got 2 GB for your macbook pro, i definitely recommend using crucial to upgrade to 4GB. you can definitely install it yourself too. [@]also it's relatively inexpensive way to upgrade your mac yourself. programs load and open faster, and OS boots faster as well.

In my previous experience with another company, the 4Gb Memory Kit advertised and sold for the MacBook Pro didn't work, even after running all the reset functions and programs suggested by the vendor and by the manufacturer for more than an hour. When I returned the "non working" memory to them, they initially took a 15% Restocking fee on my return even though the reason for the return was that the memory didn't work. I had to argue with them to get all my money back. On the other hand, the 4G Memory Kit purchased from Crucial (exact same specs but different manufacturer) worked on my MacBook Pro as advertised; I took the old memory out, installed the new one quickly and easily, and restarted my laptop without any fuss or problem. It took me 10 minutes all together. And then as a bonus and for another 10 minutes, I was able to use the memory removed from my MacBook Pro and upgrade my wife's MacBook from 1Gb to 2Gb (the memory happened to be compatible between the two). This whole experience confirmed one more time how important it is to deal with a reliable company like Crucial. Thanks Crucial, you got it right immediately.

I received the two Ram Chips as a gift. I properly installed the Ram Chip and the computer fan started but the screen remained black and there was no startup sound. I tried one 2 gig chip and one one gig and then reversed the slots for each chip then tried two two gig in the two slots. nothing worked the roam chips do not work. I have a Mac Book Pro 2.33 ghz manufacture date November 2006. the specs for the Ram chip are what is requested for my computer. It is recommended that I install one 2 gb chip and one 1 gb chip which I did and it did not work. I also tried one crucial 2gb chip only and that did not work either.

Crucial Response: We find that the problems you describe are usually related to the instatllation on this system. Please make sure the new RAM is fully seated in the slots. If you need assistance, please give our technical support a call.

Great product. Did exactly as expected. Was a little leary at first as I am new to Mac, but their recommendation for compatibility went off without a hitch. Was compatible as they said, was installed within 15 minutes, (I did it myself), and was recognized by my system instantly upon reboot. I spent a lot of time looking for the best options to replace my OEM RAM chip in a MacBook Pro 2.2GHz. I narrowed it to three vendors with excellent reputations and user reviews, of which Crucial was one. Buying direct from the company saved me approximately 25% from the major retail outlets, and it was by far the best value amongst the three manufactors being considered.

The price was so good that I was completly comfortable sacrificing the existing 1GB OEM chip in my laptop so that I could drop in 2x 2GB chips.

I am totally happy with the performance within the Mac OS, and even more excited about how well I can run Parallels (a virtualized Windows XP session) right on top of my Mac session.

This is a very stable 4GB memory kit.

Replaced the 2x1G sticks in my stock Macbook Pro with this kit (2x2G sticks). Install was a piece of cake and the memory works perfectly - all for a fraction of the cost of the [...]. Primary reason for more memory was the ability to run either larger or multiple virtual machines (memory hogs), but it also helps my Spore game performace (GRIN)...

well apple i wanna upgrade my apple memory from 2gb to 4 gb and like it would cost me around 400 if i buy it from them and like 30 more for thier tech guy to put it on.. i just like got mine for 100 and works great.. reason on why i didnt give it a 5/5 stars is that its been with me for like 3 week still cant really tell if it wont overheat..

I use my Macbook Pro for my audio and design computer away from my 8 Core at work. It is worth noting that this RAM went in on my mbp with less fiddling than my xeon- but this is probably to be expected with the increased slot count.
The RAM has exponentially increased performance on an already fast machine in the case of the mbp and was well worth the price. I use it most often to stream samples and audio tracks when away from my g-drive and for live apps. Even with full audio projects running, the 4 GB in full are rarely used and it is no problem to nip in and out of my adobe suite when web/design chores call unexpectedly.
I have yet to see the mbp buckle under anything I do at home- though I reserve all motion rendering outside of flash animations for the work computer- but with the RAM upgrade in place I have no idea when I will see performance diminish. All Adobe suite related chores have been a breeze thus far and it handles even the most overstuffed psd's with the greatest of ease. I'll never say no to a nice RAM upgrade at this price.

Maybe during the snow leopard transition....

I run several applications at once, including large software development as well as research tools and the jump from 2GB to 4GB really helps quite a bit. The biggest increase in performance was seen using VirtualBox virtualization app. Now I can run OSX and Fedora Linux simultaneously with no slowdown at all!
