Before installing this RAM, the laptop would randomly Blue Screen at least once a day. Since installing, the Blue Screens have stopped, so we are very pleased!

Crucial have a handy download to identiy the correct memory, didn't work in my case but easy to identiy correct item using online guide. Memory is high quality, worked a treat upgrading from 0.5 gig to 2 gig, excellant improvement in performance. Price was very competitive [...]. Have used loads of Crucial kit in work (computer service tech)- never had a problem with any of it.

I purchased this kit for my Wife's Toshiba Satellite L30-101 laptop and regrettably it does not work with this machine - the laptop does not start with this memory kit installed. Crucial technical support were able to qualify this - the kit contains 667Mhz modules whereas the maximum speed that this particular (L30-1010) laptop version can cope with is 533Mhz.

Updated to 2 x 1GB cards, however with the Tosh L30 there is a potential problem. Resolved quickly by a slight downgrade to 1gB + original 512mB. Works perfectly, and quick. Refund given for returned 1GB card.
Would recommend Crucial + aftersales service

The PC5300 speed is the wrong speed for the Satelite L30. When i installed them, they did not work at all and i recieved a checksum error. On contacting crucial, this is a known problem to do with the chipset on the L30, which was very dissapointing given that it is advertised as an upgrade for it. Speed is not backwards compatible. Go for the slower memory chips which worked perfectly.

Service & Delivery comments:

technical staff were very good sorting the problem out. Told me which replacements i needed and i had replacement memory in a few days.Laptop is working fine now

Unfortunately though the 2 x 1GB modules were fine... they wouldn't work together in my Toshiba laptop - even though the Crucial 'checker' said they were compatible. On further investigation it seems some Toshiba's have different chipsets.. that wouldn't allow both modules to work together!
Crucial did offer compatible replacements... but I couldn't be bothered to return the modules & re-order. I ended up selling the spare [at a small loss] on Ebay]..
