The memory was needed to install the latest version of Apple OS X (required at least 2GB). I bought two bundled 1 GB memory packs, and quadrupled my laptop's memory from half a gig to 2 GB. Made a huge difference. I had never installed computer memory before, but looked online to find a video specific to my laptop. Used Crucial's Web site to find compatible memory and ordered it. This RAM has chips on both side of the stick. Therefore, it may be a tight fight. But if you use enough force (without breaking anything), it will slide in properly.

My computer was running painfully slow. It is 3.5 years old and I was not ready to replace it. I took it to my Mac store and the guy explained to me why 512 mb RAM is not much any more. Since I am basically an idiot when it comes to this sort of thing, I just listened to him. He told me I should upgrade to 2G's of RAM from Crucial and not Apple. Then he showed me how to take out the old RAM and instal the new. The ONLY issue I had was that I needed to press in the new RAM very firmly. Overall, this was super easy and I just quadrupled my RAM, now everything runs smooth and fast. Thanks Mac guy, thanks even more Crucial for my inexpensive upgrade.

My MacBook was running so slowly when I was online. The little "beach ball" was spinning forever and I kept having to Force Quit Safari. The guy at the Apple Store recommended Crucial and told me exactly which memory I needed. He then showed me how to install it when it arrived. Only a week or two after installing additional RAM, my laptop completely crashed. :( I took it to the MAC store and the first thing they asked me was, "Have you installed more RAM recently?" They first said the RAM might have infected my hard drive but, after triage, they determined that my hard drive was fine. My fear was that I had failed to eliminate all possibility of static damaging the RAM as I installed it.

So, of course, I don't know enough to be able to tell if the RAM was the cause or if it was just a coincidence. I've heard NOTHING but GREAT things about Crucial - all of the MAC representatives at the store recommend buying from you guys instead of buying from them! So, I will have to assume it was a fluke.

I'm using a lot of high power programs: Aperture2,Final Cut 4, Photoshop Elements6, Rapid Weaver. The price was great too. I paid one third less of what I was being charged at the Apple Store for 1GB.
