I paint portraits and fine art using Corel Painter X. Some brushes in Painter especially watercolor are very memory intensive especially when painting at a size of 16"x20". My system is a 2008 Imac that originally came with 2 gig of RAM memory and it would crash when using watercolor or auto painting. I increased the RAM memory to 4 gigs and it still crashes when using auto painting or watercolor. Although my system is now showing that I have 4 gigs of memory, I have seen nothing to substantiate this.
I can not fault the product but by the same token I can not give it credit for doing any good.

But now that the memory is in, it's dramatically increased the speed and ease of using large files in Photoshop and Sketchup. I use this in a mid-2008 aluminum iMac 2.66GHz. It came with two 1GB SO-DIMMs. I purchased two 2GB SO-DIMMs manufactured by OCZ and those worked fine for a few months but then the computer started randomly crashing apps and the OS would sometimes freeze. I replaced those SO-DIMMs with these two 2GB Crucial DIMMs and have been 100% trouble-free for the past two weeks! Next time I'm going straight for Crucial brand.

I should have upgraded the ram sooner. Before I would have to close PhotoShop to open up DreamWeaver and god forbid I have both open. My system would just come to a stop. Now I can have PhotoShop, DreamWeaver and even 2 web browsers and my mail client and iTunes all runnng at the same time and now notice it.

Kudos to Crucial for dummy-proof ordering. Reputable brand and reasonable price is great.

I use my iMac 2.66 with VMWare Fusion running a virtual Windows Vista machine. With 2GB there would be lots of paging. Upgrading to 4 GB has solved that, allowing everything to run smoothly.
