Moving my laptop from 1Gb to 2Gb under XP SP3 should have given me a speed boost but there's no noticable change - suggesting that the performance bottleneck wasn't RAM but disk speed. Not much I can do about that as the laptop runs so hot the keyboard is uncomfortable to use a lot of the time so I'm not fitting a hotter faster disk. However the memory upgrade did free up the 2x512Mb SODIMMS in the laptop to go into my Mac Mini so that got double memory too. Crucials scanner, price [...]. I recommend them to all my clients.
