I have an iMac G5 1.8 Ghz processor and I have already upgraded from the factory installed 512 MB to 1 GB RAM. As I've been looking to install CS4 and possibly Leopard on my mac, I thought it necessary to upgrade to 2GB RAM. (Just because I'm a very heavy program user). So far, there are no complaints and the installation was easy. At the moment, I'm a content customer.

I've been running an older iMac PowerPC G5 with 1.25 GBs of memory and Apple's latest OS (Leopard 10.5.6). Because the newer OS was taxing the machine somewhat, I upgraded its memory to 2 GBs (maximum) with the hope of a performance boost. I'm pleased with the results: quicker boot and shutdown, quicker app loading, and less of the dreaded spinning ball (wait state). Crucial's website made selecting the right memory for my iMac very easy. The price was right and installation was a breeze. My only regret is that I didn't add the memory sooner.

My local Apple store recommended the upgrade from the stock 256K of my 5 year old Imac G5 as it was really performing very slowly. After the 1GB installation, I thought I had a new computer and was very satisfied. However after installation and enjoyment of the phenomenal increased performance, the memory failed after just 6 hours.

I wonder if the memory was ever screened with a burn-in period or not to eliminate 'infant mortality" failures? In any case, if a random failure, I appreciate the rapid response to replace it. I am awaiting the replacement.

I needed to add more memory to my MAC. When I called Apple I got this great customer service guy who told me what I needed to upgrade to Apple's Leopard Operating System. The first step was going to Crucial.[@]. Honestly, the guy at Apple made it super easy for me. He told me exactly what to buy on your site and then he sold me the Leopard program. He told me how to install the memory and then gave me key points to remember when I was installing Leopard. I think this kind of partnering is rare to find and was so beneficial to me. I feel like I have whole new computer.

Because of the iMAC casing, we needed to have a professional install the additional RAM, but it made a dramatic difference in performance for my husband who's a WOW player. Wish we'd have done it BEFORE buying the new iMAC. Now we have 2 great iMAC's!

This G5 is the workhorse of our photography studio.
So processing an entire wedding shoot at once is not unusual.
We hoped the upgrade would provide a significant speed boost, but it provided only a minimal boost.
Crutial was wonderful to work with and got the right parts to us quickly.
They are so easy to upgrade in most Macs that even someone that has never upgraded their computer's memory could install them.
We already had 1 GB in RAMM so we doubled it with this upgrade. Obviously if you only had 526MB and upgraded to 2GB you would notice a much larger increase in speed.
