We bought our computer about 4 yrs ago and we never had the need to upgrade. With all the kids new IPODs, etc it was necessary. This was a very easy process and the results have been great. It was easy to install the memory and it worked immediately. The cost for the upgrade was very minimal compared to what Best Buy and Ultimate wanted to charge me. Since the upgrade, the new features and speed have been excellent!

I went from factory installed 512 MB RAM to 2.0 GB of RAM. With the newer software on an older machine, the new memory was badly needed. The spinning color wheel (Hour Glass equivalent) is NO MORE! I can have many programs open -- nothing crashes -- no waiting for the system to respond any more.

This was an older iMac with just the OOTB 512MB RAM. I added in the two 1-Gig sticks and it perked the system right up!
Easy to install; you just have to remove the access panel on the bottom.
Started right up and had absolutely no problems!
Now can open up Word for Mac without hesitation, and still run iTunes, Safari and Firefox and more, all at the same time.

The memory kit was a fast and install on my iMac. The simplicity of installation was probably influenced more by the Mac's design rather than the Memory Module Kit, but the media was a perfect fit. Kudos to the Crucial website for the tools provided (Memory Advisor and System Scanner) which removed any doubt I was ordering the correct kit. I am barely computer literate, and this was so simple a process that even I felt competent in ordering and installing the memory myself.

Crucial has a drop-dead simple program to determine the right memory and the simplest ordering procedure I've ever dealt with. I think I spent a total of 15 minutes total on this project from logging on to their web site to final installation of the software.

Running many RAM "hungry" applications (photoshop, firefox, etc.) was slow with just 512MB (with a 3 year old computer).
Bumping the iMac to 2 GB was helpful and keeps things running smoothly.

Installation is a breeze (7 minutes at most) and testing it is also easy (just google around)

It took more time to cut thru the thermo-packaging (because Crucial protects the memory so well)than it took the iMac to boot up after installation...way cool!

Bought this one to upgrade my home computer and the modules were different sized than the original Mac memory. Still, it did go in so I fired up the computer w/new memory and got nothing. Required a pair of needle nosed pliers to remove defected modules. I did order a 2nd set from Crucial which worked. For both fewer headaches and less damage to your computer I would recommend you stick with the original memory and pay the higher price for Apple memory.
