My latest must have been my eighth purchase of this model of chip. These have been used to improve the performance of "top of the range" G4 iBooks for family members and friends over the last couple of years. Installation only takes a couple of minutes from start to finish.

As a layman, it took me some time to figure out how to install it. Ideally, you wouldn't refer me to my computer's guidebook (I couldn't find it, admittedly my own fault), but tell me everything I need to know on one sheet of paper. Having done it, it's now clear that it's not at all complex an operation, so this should be possible.

Anyway, now that it's installed, it's hugely improved my computer's performance. No caveats.

Installed a 1GB RAM upgrade to my wife's three-year-old 1.42GZ G4 iBook. Previously only had 512MB RAM built in. Definite speed/stability improvement esp when having multiple apps open. A [$] investment should eek another year out of this machine...

Having soldiered on with a paltry 512MB RAM in my 3 year old iBook, I decided it was time to upgrade. After all, Macs certainly aren't cheap, and what looked to be a good means of increasing my current system performance was to add more RAM - and it has certainly helped!
