This memory was easy to install, took 5 minutes (4 to undo screws, 1 to replace and intall new memory)
BIOS recognised it instantly. Laptop is now 3 x faster and fewer hangups in Vista. Originally, 1Gb installed, not enough for Vista on this laptop.
Crucial's memory detector software tool (online) does all the hard work of selecting the right memory that is guaranteed to work

I bought this memory upgrade for a friends daughters new Dell laptop. I checked with Crucial before buying the memory that it would work at the 800MHz speed in the machine which was confirmed as all memory was being changed.When it arrived it was very easy to install and the instructions were very explicit although they didn't explain static handling precautions (I'm an electronics engineer).On start up the speed increase was only slightly better and on further investigation I found the memory was only running at 533MHz![...]To be honest I would have been better to choose memory running at 533MHz with a low CL timing (this is CL6) to get the last possible speed increase out of the memory and save a few ££It works and was easy to install. I have no worries about suspect origin but I'm not sure if it was value for money.
