Performance has been much better and computer doesn't crash when I open more than one window. It was an easy thing to do but I had not done anything like it before and could have done with better in pack instructions because I had no way of looking at another computer to watch or follow pictures whilst I did it. I actually found the instructions on another website better than the ones provided which I had to look at before I carried out the upgrade.

I am really happy with the RAM I purchased from Crucial. It was easy to install in about five minutes, and immediately tripled the speed of my computer. Applications that previously took ages to open and save now work in a flash. I also use a Wacom Bamboo graphics tablet which used to lag behind when working in Photoshop, but now runs in perfect real time. Thanks Crucial!

Upgrading an iBook G4 from the factory default 512 MB to it's maximum 1.5 GB is now essential with the latest versions of Firefox, Safari and Flash.
This iBook originally ran tiger 10.4.6 back in 2006 and now runs tiger 10.4.11 in 2010.
Upgrade has removed the RAM/paging bottleneck and shifted the bottleneck back to the CPU which is really where the bottleneck should be. Running at the better performance setting rather than the battery saving setting is the only answer to the CPU bottleneck.

I highly recommend that any one with an iBook G4 with the standard configuration out of the box should upgrade their memory to better utilise current programs and usage. Buying and installing the correct memory from Crucial is very easy coupled with DIY notes from Apple.com, you have nothing to lose and better performance to gain.
