I would never have tried ordering and fitting my own memory if it hadn't been for the Crucial online scan. And fitting was so amazingly easy with not problems at all. Loads more simple than I had imagined.

A highly competent PC user, I do have a bit of a block on the hardware side, so if I can do it, then most people can.

And the cost to upgrade my laptop, very reasonable.

Problem: Vista response very sluggish with lots of disc i/o to Windows pagefile.
Solution: Remove 2x512mb and replace with 2GB module.
Result: Much better once loaded but still slow to start up.
Prognosis: Replace Laptop's 5400rpm drive next...

It was taking me between 20 to 30 mins before I was able to get online,upgrading the memory from 1GB to 4GB has taken away all the frustation I felt while waiting for the computer to startup.
