As always Crucial deliver memory quickly and it always works and as expected the system is more repsonsive and multi tasks better. In that respect its a great buy, however I was a bit disgruntled to find that the paper instructions for the memory were in the anti static packaging with the DDR2 modules. Ironically this same bit of paper informs you to keep the memory modules away from paper. I'm an engineer myself so I know the importance of this. I've ordered a number of memory kits from Crucial and never had this problem before, hopefully their standards aren't slipping.

My son and I both had similar machines employing 2*512MB of RAM. When I received the upgrade,and read the instructions,and warnings about static Etc:I thought that I would play safe and get my local IT expert to do the job for me.
Then after a few beers I thought, what the hell I'll have a go.As per the instructions I took out my old 512 card,put the two new 1GB cards in the top two slots ,then got a bit cheeky and put my old card back in the 3rd slot.My computer started up straight away no problems!and now I have 2.5GB memory,and boy is my computer fast now!!I went from Push bike to Trekker Warp speed.Thank you Crucial.

Upgrading Acer Aspire T180

Crucial's instructions advise to fill slots starting with largest density, so moved original 512Kb pair to slots 3 and 4 and replaced with Crucial 1GB modules. System hung with Award logo top left, Bios(?) version along bottom and 'sparkles' (memory corruption?) on screen. I suspect 512Kb not seated correctly as hard to push in.

Removed 512Kb pair, boot failed with "The last attempt to restart the system from its previous location failed. Attempt to restart again?". Restored RAM to pre-upgrade, all okay.

Spoke to Alex at Technical Support who advised swapping RAM around, trying individual modules, etc in case they were faulty/poorly fitted.

Not convinced, I did my own research and found that Hibernating XP (which saves contents of RAM to C:\hiberfil.sys) was the culprit. Changing size of RAM was confusing it. Did 'Turn off' (not Hibernate), installed 1GB pair in slots 3 and 4, restart, all okay.

Will try moving 1GB pair back to slots 1 and 2, might leave out slower (4200?!) 512Kb pair to let new RAM run at 6400. Definitely considering buying second kit to replace them.

Surprisingly easy to install. Provided a significant increase in my Vista speed index, A huge improvement in handling graphics, Scans and Photographs, Vista complains much less when multi tasking, A noticable easier handling of Web pages and Broadband in general, I intend to purchase another 2GB Set very shortly to fully populate my motherboard, No negative comments to make regarding this product.
