I upgraded the memory on 2004 computer from 500MB to 2GB and a slow PC that I was ready to throw out is very usable again.
Installing the memory is genuinely easy. All you have to do is open the case by removing a couple of screws; pull out the old memory card (it's easy to recognize as it looks like the one you have just bought); push the new memory card in (it will only slot in fully if you have it the right way round) and put the case back on. Start up your computer and it works immediately - only much faster! It was simple, even if for someone like me who has never seen the inside of a computer before.
For the modest cost of two memory cards I have saved myself the expense of buying a new PC.

I wanted to increase my RAM from 500MB. After running your little macro thing it told me which RAM products were suitable, so I bought a 1GB card but when I installed it, it worked but disabled the existing RAM card somehow. [...] Instaed of upgrading by 1GB I ended up upgradinmg by only 500M.
