My MacPro was getting slower with unexplained HD usage.
By fitting 4 GB of extra RAM my system is now faster than from new and the unexplained HD usage has stopped. Well worth the cost.

This upgrade was a breeze to install and has breathed new life into my elderly Mac Pro (1st Gen 2x2GHz Dual-Core Xeon now fitted with 9GB in total).

Together with a pair of Western Digital Caviar Green HDs, I now hardly ever see the spinning beach ball even with several applications open simultaneously (e.g. Word 2008, Excel 2008, Photoshop Elements 8, Aperture 2.1 together with Mail, Preview and Safari).

I highly recommend this upgrade (and Crucial) to other Mac Pro owners.

This was a long overdue memory upgrade to my Mac Pro. A quick check of the Apple manual showed exactly how and where to install the modules. The speed increase in Photoshop was immediately apparent and having several applications working at the same time is quite a luxury.

I've used Crucial for memory upgrades in several Macs down the years- the modules have always been easy to find, easy to fit and reliable.

I felt that Crucial give value for money, it is a very very reliable company =. They have great customer care and the service with the agents online regarding which software to use for your machine. It was was better than even apple regarding advice.

Its sad that the item i purchased had no effect on such a vast system as mine but as companies go You cant better if you need good part for either your pc or MAC.

The memory has proved extremely reliable, it is easy to install all in all an excellent product. The computer is mainly used for image manipulation, Java programming and running VMWare Fusion and Windows XP Pro so that I can run Visual Studio software.

I bought 4 GB to increase the memory of my Mac Pro (original) to 7GB. Apple don't even sell the memory for this anymore as far as I know. I ran the system check app from crucial to find the correct memory.

After an easy installation, the memory was instantly found by the operating system (OSX) with no problem what so ever.

The only thing I can think of to mention is the fact that the instructions that come with the memory are much more PC oriented, but this is not that problematic, especially as there are many helpful diagrams available on the net or in the Apple booklet that comes with the mac.

Memory-intensive apps (eg Photoshop CS3) were creaking a bit with the standard memory. Adding another 4GB of RAM has transformed my Mac Pro. Always has been a great machine. Now it's got warp-drive.Dead easy to install. Put the DDR2s into the wrong slots to begin with, but a quick call to a Crucial technician put me straight instantly. Then a quick check of the System Profiler to make sure all chips are being seen by the Mac and . . . No further problems - second star from the left and on until dawn !
