The NC-10 as a portable unit that ticks a lot of box's, but I really wanted occasional use of apps such as photoshop or multiple office programs open. The memory upgrade worked a treat, the Crucial memory upgrade is delivering a much better experience.
The Crucial brand might be marginally more expensive, but you feel more confident with a trusted name. Why take the risk for a couple of pounds.

In theory it should improve all round performance, but I cannot tell any real difference in fact I think things have slowed up a little.

XP recognises it has the additional memory (1.99GB) when I look in the system tab in the control panel, but I didn't get a "new hardware detected" after I first installed the new module.

Very easy to install though taking about 45 seconds to achieve, with only the plastic memory cover a little stiff to remove.

My 1 month old NC10 just doesn't seem quite so spritely after this upgrade. I put the original memory back in but permormance remains slightly stunted compared to when it was fresh out of the box.

My other modest Dell laptop with Vista and 2GB ram is in a much higher league for websurfing speed. But the NC10 remains a useful mini to have around.

Wanted a cheap upgrade to the memory. This module doubled the factory installed memory. Just make sure you keep the original in case you need to send back the unit for warranty work.

Performance is sometimes still a bit sluggish, think this is more down to the CPU than memory. Unfortunate but I still think the NC10 with this memory module is a great buy.

I haven't really done a comparison between 1gb of ram and the extra gb upgrade so I can't comment on any improvement. The memory arrived before the laptop I had ordered and I put it in as soon as the laptop came.

I just assume that it improves performance and at such a low cost I didn't think twice about upgrading the memory.

Installing the memory was easy even for me with my minimal tech skills and oversized fingers.

It's a shame that the RAM upgrade for the NC10 requires a swap out rather than just adding another stick of memory but I'm sure I'll find a use for the one I removed.
Swapping out the RAM is easy if you know what you're doing. Removing the hatch is not as easy as it looks. Once the screw is out, it's best to push down on the middle of the hatch during removal. It still takes a scary amount of force and I did worry that the hatch might become deformed or even crack. It didn't. The rest of the procedure was easy. I'd recommend everyone have a look at the pictorial guides and videos available on the Web.
I didn't expect any increase in speed and haven't seen any but I often have many applications running at once and multitasking has benefited remarkably.
I run XP but I'd guess that this is an all but 'compulsory' upgrade for Vista users.

Changed the OS on my netbook from XP to Vista, performance was slow, but after upgrading the memory using (Crucials own ActiveX software) performance was great. Memory was not only doubled but I was able to use faster performing memory too.

Upgraded my new Samsung NC10 netbook with one of these 2gb sodimms... very easy to install thanks to the easy access panel on the back of the NC10.

Nice increase in speed in certain applications and its a name i can trust.
