It was so simple to select the correct memory for my computer using the "Crucial UK Scan".The price was very reasonable [...]Verry happy with my first dealings with Crucial.

The choice is between the PC2-5300 and the PC2-6400. I went for the PC2-5300 because a) That was the original memory, and b) I read (as far as I recall now) that the latency was lower and any slight speed increase with the PC2-6400 type for my (non-gaming) machine would be imperceptible. Also I'd seen a couple of reports where others machines hadn't been happy with the 6400, necessitating a return and swap. - I didn't want that time-waster!
I've found that - according to Task Manager - the pair of modules are better balanced than the original 2x1GB modules, though out of the 4096MB available, my machine (Acer Aspire 7720 with Vista 32bit) is only utilizing 3069MB.
However the machine now handles multiple applications much better, and I like that warm feeling of having max memory. Can't say I've noticed any vast increase in speed, though I'm probably not well placed to report on web usage as I'm currently very limited by only having dial-up. (Which I'm currently looking at upgrading to broadband since this upgrade).

I run a web design business for charities and frequently have multiple graphic applications and browsers open at the same time, the added memory keeps me ticking
