Found out existing laptop can take 2gb ram, purchased 1gb dimm, was considering replacing the laptop before upgrade no need to now.easily justifed the cost of the dimm.

Slotted perfectly into the laptop. Windows found it first time and now the machine spends much less time swapping out to disk. The memory finder tool got it spot on!
