I used this memory to upgrade my macbook pro to 3GB (the maximum). It has worked out very well. The lack of symmetry hasn't been a problem for me and I use this laptop for development work and make it work pretty hard.

This small bit of ram added a massive change to the speed and easy of my MacBook Pro. Fire Fox now runs smooth as silk as dose many other programs that are also used on Windows systems. if your thinking about getting a new mac, stop and see your memory from the About this mac. if its 1GB then this will add to your Macs life span. a must if you only have 1GB of memory.

Was surprised how easy the RAM install way. Got it wrong at first as I hadn't pressed the gold edge in far enough but then did push in more and it showed up on the system. Happened noticed any performance difference but that could be a very subjective feeling. Would need a proper hardware tool to quantify that properly.

If your laptop does not start after installation and only the front light flashes (screen does not turn on), you might have done the same as me and did not push (or slightly wiggle) the memory in properly. Stressed me out no end, as I was terrified of using too much force. Just make sure the golden 'pins' are pretty much completely covered.

I had a one meg MacBook Pro. I had to replace the 1 Mb with the new 2 Mb component and fit the old 1 Mb one in the vacant slot. Simply putting the 2 Mb one in first did not work.
I now have a great 3 Mbs.

My MacBook Pro came with the standard 1 GB RAM, when I got it second-hand, and the max it would get to was 3 GB. Based on friend's recommendations i tried Crucial, and was impressed with the scanner which told me exactly what I needed, with minimum fuss.

Use my MBP for multiple VM's, Linux and MS Windows, on VirtualBox, and yes VM's are notably faster. I also use the extra RAM for the occasional games I play on Boot Camp.

Have bought RAM in the past, cheaper, but not as good.
