Original RAM was 256 MB, upgrade suggested leaving that in and adding the 1GB. This I did, however the machine only recognised the 1 GB.

This did not really matter, so I removed the original 256 MB and just used the new 1GB stick.

two sticks (1G) purchased to bring a laptop up to speed Satellite L20. It now flies!
Good price and does what it says on the tin.
Seen various prices crucial had the lowest.
Quality products often hold a high premium not so for these DDR2 PC2-5300 ram cards very high quality and very low price below most competitors.

I simply wanted to speed up a reticent laptop by increasing the RAM, preferably without trying to find exactly what I needed at my local pc Superstore.

The Crucial additional memory did 'what it said on the can' without any fuss and was easy to install. Crucial's ability to analyse the memory requirement on-line is awesome and has worked three times for me now - can't wait to tell my friends.

Unusually for me, I can't think of anything bad to say!!

My Grandson, Tom Blakey, had gone to Manchester Uni with a second hand laptop to use for his studies and other young persons programmes!

I visited him at home with the family recently and found his computer was so slow it couldn't even run a Disc Cleanup!!

Two blocks of Crucial 1mb Ram later, it now performs as it should.

Basic memory chip that does what it is supposed to do and so far hasn't given any problems. It was fiddly to change the chips but that's entirely down to the restricted space in the Toshiba laptop RAM bay. Get someone with thinner fingers than mine to switch the chips.

Ran the system scanner tool and it recommended buying two chips so went ahead and purchased it. Turned up really quickly and was really easy to install (though the instructions weren't amazingly clear) it worked fairly well for one week then started crashing all the time and I kept getting the blue screen of death, so took out one of the new chips - it works fine now but I've got a spare RAM chip which I wasted money on and the constant crashing lost some of my work.
