In our park, we have an old Dell Latitude Cpx, now relegated to printing invoices as well as labels with the French post office software. It came with 256KB (2x128KB) and when half of that went bad, the machine slowed to a crawl and could no longer access the internet (needed for invoices). Instead of just replacing the bad 128, I bought the max this old baby could take, 2x256KB. Works great, now faster than when I bought it! BTW I did previously buy the same sort of memory on[@] direct from China and I'm not generalising since we are an [@] seller too, the memory did not work. So much more satisfying to by from Crucial and have it work! Anecdote: The Latitude CPx sold for nearly 3000USD when it came out. It's still running 10(?) years later. I replaced the keybooard, and now the memory.

Comments about Crucial 256MB Upgrade for a Dell Latitude CPx Series System:

Immediately saw huge increase in performance. At same time took the plunge and re-installed all the s/w; os, office, broadband the lot (following HDD re-format. Combination of doubling memory (256MB to 512MB max) and re-installing s/w plus a good 2 days of s/w upgrades(!) means that my little old 8 year old Dell Latitude running XP now performs extremely well. I can stream and watch video (youtube or iplayer) almost perfectly whereas before it was unuseable. The spec test I ran tells me that the new Crucial mem data transfer speed is a bit slower than the original (which strangly wasn't Dell but Toshiba?) It doesn't cause me a problem however as its more than made up for by the massive increase in available RAM now I've gone from 256MB to 512MB. Interestingly its a sub 500MB processor. Obviously the PC is too low spec for some newr apps but for my useage at home its great!

Well done Crucial!

My work laptop was showing it's age, running Win98. I wanted to run WinXP and found the upgrade perfect for that! All my apps work really well and it is nice to have the same OS as my desktop in the office. Thanks Crucial, I will buy from you again. [...]
