Big improvement in performance including boot up and shut down. I think I saved around GBP35 by buying direct & DIY fitting when compared with getting it done by the techies @ a well known computer store. See comments on access to memory bay under Service/Delivery Comments; would have helped if there were specific guides on the Crucial website for more difficult fitting situations. Anyway I hope this post helps someone else out there.

Homer - try upgrading your BIOS - got around 2.5Gigs showing prior to upgrade, reached 3Gig after a BIOS upgrade from Acer Support.

Prior to purchasing this memory form Crucial, i shopped around on my high street-Nobody could beat the price of Crucial, nor could they match my required specs as crucial did.
Form start to finish it was the easiset and most pleasant experience EVER. All i had to do was run the crucial scan tool, and it told ME what i needed-No work required- Then it presented me with the options for guaranteed upgrade.So i chose, paid and ordered.
less than 72 hours later, my memory modules were flying through my front door in an extremely well and professional packed box.Having opened up my previously ailing laptop, i proceeded to take the old sticks out and rpelace with the new.Booting up for the first time no difference was noted-But then, i went into a power hungry game i like playing and WOW! Suddenly the full force of an extra 2+gb worth of memory were clearly evident!
As my machine isnt 64 bit, my pc only recognises just under 3gb :( But its more than enough power for what i need, and my laptop has now got a new lease of life. Well worth every penny. Thanks Crucial.

Laptop used in both personal and business use, where user programmes are not particularly RAM intensive. I did find it very simple to install, but was expecting around 3.5gb from my XP system, but am only seeing a poor 2 - 2.5gb at best.

Tried using ReadyBoost with a fast x40 2GB SD Card but the speed difference was poor so I fitted this 4GB kit instead, very easy - anyone can do it. Speed is unreal. I've never really been that happy with the performance before, but now its a different Laptop. I'm running Vista 32bit, unlike many reviews that state the 32bit version would not see all 4GB mine seems to looking at all the stats.

it made a difference, its a shame that i'm running windows vista. otherwise it did what it said on the label.

they could be a little bit more competitive on the price, i choose them, after doing a scan of my laptop memory. thus having some kinda assurance that i was buying the right bits and bobs - classic newbie market.
