I popped the old chip out, put the new one in, turned on the G4 and everything seems fine. Doesn't really seem to have sped up the machine but it wasn't slow to start with, just future proofing. Very easy installation.

Admittedly, my Apple PowerBook had seen better days and is kinda old hat, but it was really beginning to crawl. Increased its memory to 1.2GB from 512MB and now it flies. Just need to upgrade the hard drive now :)

I trusted the Crucial Scanner tool who told me I could upgrade by changing a 256 Mb bank for a new 1Gb one in my Apple PowerBook G4. When I got it I realized the 256 Mb is internally hardwired and not exchangeable. Now I can use my 1 Gb Crucial memory to scratch my back when itchy.
