easy to install and the mac mini is like a new machine, super fast, iphoto in particular is rocket propelled, imovie supercharged, everything is so fast.... I was considering getting a new model mac mini but upgrading from 512 to 2gb was far cheaper, I even put in a 500gb hard drive at the same time and it was under a £100 all in, less than half an hour to do the hardware upgrades.... stunning.... just do it!

Installation was tricky but easier than expected.I used my wife's pastry spreader so no putty knives reqiured to install.Previously had 512M the 2GB now allows me to run an XP virtual machine in VMWare without bringing machine to a halt.Other apps like iPhoto run better too.

Download some detailed instructions from the web about opening up your mac mini. A bit scary but ok with the right tools. Went from 1Gb to 2Gb(max) to breath a bit more life into the mini when browsing a lot of different web pages

I origianlly bought my mac mini as a media device attached to my TV. But i needed to use it for more, and the 512 internal memory was just not enough. After upgrading to 2Gb memory the machine now flies, and rivals my workhorse machine in terms of boot up speed, opening applications and checking e-mail/surfing the net.

Comments about Crucial 2GB kit (1GBx2) Upgrade for a Apple Mac mini (Intel Core Duo - 1.66GHz) System:
The mac mini is a little scary to open up - needed two putty knives in the end, but as long as you follow an on-line guide, it is straightforward after that. Maxing the memory out to 2Gb really makes a difference though. Before, everything slowed down (swapping to disk) when I had lots of applications open at once. Now it should be smooth as butter.

As a rule of thumb as to get the best our of todays OS's max out your RAM. Especially when it comes to MacMini's. OS X hogs ram and will use your HD if you don't have much.. MacMinis come with laptop HD's so their slower than desktops, therefore multitaksing and paging will be slower. Max your ram for optimum performance.

Great product, cheaper than most suppliers [...] Only downside is how difficult it is to install in an Intel Mac Mini but if you're brave it's worth it. My mac is now running quickly and boots in no time at all. Make sure you test it before reassembling though as I'm not sure the Mac would survived being prised open too many times.

I used this memory to upgrade an intel mac mini from 512MB to 2GB and have been very pleased with the result, the system used to slow down after a few days, and need a restart, but now is far more consistent.
Opening the mac mini is tricky, but don't be put off, just allow a bit more time than you might expect, and have a clean and clear surface (I used a towel). With a couple of good flat bladed scrapers and an old 'loyalty' card the case is separated fairly easily. There are some good videos if you search the internet (try 'mac mini upgrade memory video' in google without the quote marks). Take note of the position of the wireless connection as this may be dislodged when working. Don't forget to reconnect the small pair of wires at the front or the fan will run continuously. One screw can be tricky to put back in, but angling the unit will help guide this into place. Test before you put the case back together!

Fitting looked hard at first but the macmini came apart easily and putting in chips was a breeze. It worked at once and now I can run the new Logic pro. I'm ordering another for a friend.
