My old tired tower had been causing me problems for ages freezing, re-booting itself, running slow and all kinds of problems, I knew i needed more RAM but didn't know what to buy after running the Crucial diagnostic tool i was shown what was available and decided to buy an extra 1GB after fitting (about 20mins first time i have ever done this) i re-booted expecting all sorts of things to happen but nothing had changed other than there are no more problems and can't believe it runs quicker than when i first bought it.

had 1 gb of ram to start with...2x512mb....crucial suggested i could go max upto 2gb in total.....i have three ram slots.....but when i tried adding the 1gb ram stick (suggested)into the third slot..the pc couldnt recognise it.....i did various swap arounds but to no avail....so ive had to remove one of the 512mb sticks and be happy just using 1.5gb ram....would be nice if crucial software could have suggested i just add another 512mb ram...(as adding another 1gb ram stick is a bit of a waste)i would of had the same total usable ram in the end and save myself 17 quid....!.....

My computer was crawling along. Opinion was that the ram was inadequate for Vista. Having used Crucial before it was a simple matter of running their checking software, buying the recommended ram, [...] and putting it in. If I'd needed it, there were even instructions on how to do it. Perfect solution, computer now whizzes along, much more satisfying to pay £75 than the price any "computer expert" charges to do the same job. I would always come back to Crucial first. Great Service.

I had 2 old PCs that were struggling with XPsp3, I wasn't sure if I could still get the needed memory type. The crucial online tool and promise that if it was wrong they'd refund, gave me the confidence to buy. It was a pity one slab was faulty and that you need to find your own method of testing your new memory (mem86+)

It didn't work. Crucial's help-desk tell us the bios driver needs updating, so the product went back. However, I'm not sure Crucial are at fault here, or if there is better software they can use to identify such issues pre-purchase. Excellent service, nevertheless, in terms of identifying the problem and offering a full refund (that said, I haven't checked my bank statement yet!).

Having taken the back off I saw what and where the new parts were to be installed. I cleaned the housing out, took the old parts out installed the new, placed back the cover switched on and the rest is history great speed increse with no problems at all full marks the crucial.

This memory extension has enabled me to have my computer back to its operational level prior to the installation of memory hungry security software. I was beginning to despair that a new system would be needed but a quick chat with a friend in the business told me just to log on to the Crucial website. The result was astonishing I didnt even have to type anything and within seconds up came the reccomendation. Then after a lot of dithering about how high to go, a compromise was struck and the new memory arrived within days. Installation took all of 10 minutes appart from the delay in finding a wriststrap! Since then my old XP desk top works just as well as the Vista system in my lap top. What a relief, so there is life in the old dog yet!

Putting extra RAM into my old PC has had the desired effect. I only use the machine for browsing, word processing, a bit of photo editing and listening to music. I couldn't see the value in buying a new PC and bit more RAM seemed to be the answer. It was fiddly to install: no fault of Crucial. It will be different on a case-by-case basis I would expect. Anyway, it is in and the machine has been loosened up and now performs much more like newer machines I use at home and at work. Even if it buys me a year before upgrading the whole PC it will have been worthwhile.

I have an old (6 years) PC operating Windows XP which only had 1Gb of RAM. It was struggling with multi-tasking & was very slow to boot up. I added 2 Gb of memory from Crucial following their very explicit instructions. It took about 10 minutes. There was less increase in speed than I expected although muli-tasking performance was improved & the PC certainly runs more smoothly with none of those annoying pauses when nothing seems to be happening.

I used Crucials online facility to scan my ageing machine, as i was'nt totally sure what memory i needed, although i had an idea.

I was a bit concerned at the result, as although the motherboard info was correct (Microstar 6701) and the memory spec seemed to be about right, it stated i had 3 memory slots, one being free. I knew for sure there is only 2.
However since Crucial offer a compatability guarantee, i decided to go ahead and order anyway. Sure enough, after arriving very quickly, i installed it, and it is spot on. No problems whatsoever, and my pc is like a new machine, having doubled my RAM.
So 'Just the Job' Crucial, and thanks.

My computer had insufficient RAM, causing problems including being infuriatingly slow - over 25 minutes to turn on and start using, etc, hence the effect on my sanity! The extra RAM has already improved the time taken to turn on and I would like to purchase another RAM unit in the near future to benefit from further improvements.

The instructions were very helpful, as was the online support before-hand warning that you have to use quite a bit of pressure to push the card into place, but the most difficult bit was lifting the computer back upright.

Installation was several weeks ago and it was well worth doing to upgrade the computer.

I did have a problem with an excel & powepoint error after start-up. It did not appear to cause a major problem, but was annoying. The support staff were very helpful and thought it may be a driver issue. I re-install Microsoft Office & it solved the problem.

My computer's been slow for a while now, and I was a little afraid to tamper with upgrades and the like.
But with this little gem from Crucial there were no worries, it was easy to instal and it has boosted my computer's performance to the point where its almost as fast as the day I bought it.
Down side, well there aint any just wish I had found their site earlier, and had been brave enough to attempt the upgrade sooner.

My ancient Cybercom PC was struggling to survive with 1.25GB RAM, could take up to 15 mins to boot up. Bought this product for a silver surfer I help who doesn't need much performance power but who's PC was running out of steam. For a tenth of the cost of a new computer, which isn't justified in her, case I was able to give her PC a new lease of life. Modern antivirus and other essential software put a drain on performance and memory swapping to the disc was becoming an issue. The Crucial diagnostic software identified exactly the right product and installation was easy.

If your PC is running sloooow and crashing, with error messages, a great way to improve performance and speed is by adding extra RAM. I upgraded from 512MB to 2GB, giving my 5 year old computer a year or two's extra life till I can upgrade.
It's now running much more smoothly, and I no longer feel like banging my head on the monitor!
I am not very technical, so realised I would not be able to fit the RAM myself, and booked an expert to come and do it for me. Obviously, with the RAM, this brought the cost up to around £150, but it's worth it. I also purchased the special gloves Crucial recommends to fit RAM, but when I asked the expert if he wanted to use them, he said he's never used them, so that was a few quid I could've saved.
What was strange was that the Crucial RAM test I did said I had 3 spaces, and could purchase 2x1GB and add it to my existing 512 MB to bring it up to 2.5 - which I decided was a good amount to do what I need - but the expert could only see 2 spaces for RAM, and the 512mb went in the bin. He said Crucial's tests were normally accurate, but this time it was off. But the test gave me the exact RAM type needed for my PC and I bought it without any fuss, so it's a great service to have for the likes of me who need a bit of assistance in these matters. Don't suffer in silence - buy extra RAM!!

The improvement in speed was instantaneous. The old 5mb board, I noticed, was a Crucial board, which had functioned well - until I started hoarding a lot of superfluous data. System scanner was adamant I had a spare slot for this, but when I came to open the PC to install it, I didn't. Had to remove one of the old 256MB units to fit this in. Not sure if motherboard was recognised correctly by the scanner, but the additional memory is showing up so will go with it. Performance massively increased as a result, so I'm happy. I would recommend if the scanner doesn't recognise your system but still says it has picked up the memory slot configuration on your motherboard, to have a quick look that you do have a spare slot, just in case.

My friend, brought his computer base to me for attention, (it was sloooow) or he was going to throw it out the window. I checked the installed memory, a measly 256mb; the OS, Win Xp. I got rid of the usual dross, spyware and adware, but the performance was still lacking. I used the Crucial memory checker and found it used DDR memory, old style these days. Now it would be easy to use the checker then buy from somewhere else but with the checker I could be certain it would work, and it felt 'wrong' somehow. I bought 2 sticks, which took about 15 minutes to fit, not being familiar with the case. I booted up and it worked perfectly, the additional memory addressing the performance issues.

As a female OAP I was slightly concerned about the prospect of fitting an upgraded memory. It couldn't have been easier! With Crucial's scan system, I knew quickly which model would fit my somewhat ancient computer, it arrived very quickly, and was simplicity itself to install. I did query with Customer Service the size of the upgrade which was slightly less wide than my original, and they were extremely helpful. I don't care if there are cheaper versions out there - I would always buy from Crucial.

Our PC, which we use a lot, was becoming so slow it was at times almost grinding to a halt. Our son, in his early forties, thought we needed more RAM! Knowing about Crucial because he had himself used you before, we went on to your website. It was a simple matter to obtain your diagnosis that we were indeed very short of Random Access Memory (RAM). We ordered from you and 2 units of RAM chips, [...] It was not too difficult to remove the old units and insert the new (looking similar to the old but evidently much more powerful) in the same place, making sure each unit clicked in & was properly housed. The proof of the pudding is in the eating. Immediately the speed at which our PC functioned increased not merely perceptibly but dramatically! We've had none of that infuriating sluggishness since. We now move from from file to file & from folder to folder quickly & efficiently. Movement on Broadband which we thought was slow for other reasons also immediately became much, much quicker.Using our PC (which has become an indispensable adjunct over the last decade or so) is once again a pleasure. We will turn to Crucial again if we need anything else of a similar nature.

Months of blue screens, frozen closedowns, errors in copying data were brought to a complete end when I replaced a memory board of obscure make with a Crucial version of the same board. The faulty board had obviously had at least two dry soldered joints on it, which led to the complete detachment of a vital linking component. Lesson learnt: buy memory from trusted makers, not inferior rubbish.

As you can imagine it was very slow with modern ram hungry applications.Crucial scanned my pc and recommended a 1G ram upgrade. Put my memory modules in the pc and I got a small red icon at the top of my screen, the pc failing to boot up.After taking one of the modules out it then booted up only for me to discover all the usb ports had failed/or not recognised them. I rang the help line and explained and was told that it was impossible for the modules to affect the usb, so I was left with the pc and my new memory which only half of was working. Eventualy after having ended up totaly redoing my pc, reinstalling windows and all the appropriate software (no doubt a pc expert could have sorted it much easier than me) I then got it working fine but still with only half the memory. I kind of gave up then and excepted defeat thinking well its just one of those things as I look at my spare memory sat on the top of my pc desk in its protective bag. Only just came onto this particular email of mine as I have three and found your request for the revue, hence the delay. The annoying bit is the on line scan saying gaurenteed to work?, well it didnt work for me, well not this time. Dissapointed customerRef: Cust ID 43395285-Order 25429719. I really dont want to check the option under this section as to wether i would recommend to a friend as in the past I have had dealings with Crucial and have been happy with the service. Really I think I have just been unlucky??.
