Just wanted more RAM for my Dell Dimension 5000; according to Dell, 1GB was the maximum amount my system was capable of accepting, but Crucial say 2GB and they were right. Easy to install (remove old chips and replace with new). "Simples" (as the Meerkat would say)

Instructions provided were easy to follow and agreed with the manual that came with the PC. Most usefully, they gave an indication of the amount of force required to insert the modules - but for that (and not having any previous experience) I would have been worried about damaging something. Anyway, apart from getting sore thumbs, they were easy to install and were recognised correctly when I booted up.

Performance has improved dramatically (as expected when going from 0.5GB to 2.5GB) and I'm even thinking of getting another kit and upgrading from XP to Windows 7. It's been a few weeks since I installed the new modules and I haven't had any problems.

Good product, good instructions, good price - well done Crucial! Wish I'd known before what I could get for so little money.

My Dell Dimension 5000 was getting slower and slower - for example it took an hour to run defragment and disk clean up utilites. After fitting 4x1 Mb memory modules those tasks completed in under 4 minutes, and all other operations are now considerably quicker.

Used the "crucial" computer scanning tool to recommend the memory required - ordered it - [...] - installed it - got an error the first time - looked on the website for troubleshooting tips and followed them - memory then worked fine - now seeing an increase in performance.

The 2 pcs 1GB module increased the RAM in a Dell Inspiron 5000 PC to 2.5GB . The machine 'flies' .

Earlier I bought memory from Crucial for 2 (now old) laptops which still perform well.

Crucial is my one and only memory supplier.

A good increase in speed for my trusty old Dell Dimension 5000. Increasing from 1 to 2 Gig gives a big speed gain, but the jump from 2 to 4 Gig only improves the speed further by a small amount.(like most things you buy). The machine can only use 3.5 Gig at most, but for the price you might as well throw in the whole 4 Gig. Also as expected the memory runs at 533 (max for machine)and not 677. This memory is probably recommended because it is the slowest still made, or the newer chipsets give better performance or something like that.

PS Don't be tempted to use similar memory from another manufacturer, it probably won't work. see Dell website forums.

Purchased this product to upgrade my Dell Dimension 5000 from 4 x 512mb to the maximum supported 4 x 1 gig. Although I am aware that Vista 32 bit edition does not support the maximum of 4gig, there is still a noticeable improvement in performance. I would also have liked to have upgraded the Intel P4 processor, but alas this is not possible with the motherboard in this PC!
