I ran the Crucial diagnostic software and followed the instructions. The memory turned up fast, was what was needed and very easy to install on a Dell.

Installing 4GB of RAM when I only had 1GB before is like having a new computer. The PC now responds so quickly even when running many applications at once that it feels as if my brain is too slow for it! When my mate suggested I get more RAM I had no idea how great it would be.The one cautionary note is just be careful in reviewing the payment on the website. Make sure you know what you are being asked to pay. The website recommended 4GB for [$]. As a novice I had no idea whether that was a bargain or not. The paypal review page crashed as it loaded so I didn't get to see the final full payment. But the payment went through anyway. The payment was for[$]per 1GB so ended up being over[$]with p&p etc. A nasty surprise at the time, but I don't regret it at all. The extra RAM has transformed my PC.

I upgraded my Dell inspiron 530 desktop (which i've have for about 2 yeards now) from 2gb to 4gb as it was becoming a bit slugish and taking longer for things to load and start. I installed the additional memory as part of a complete factory restore. Initially I installed the two additional ram sticks and when I turned my computer on, it would not start and beeped a couple of times every 30 seconds. Don't be afraid to use a bit more force to install this prodcut as to get it to work corectly I had to use a bit more force than I thought I would (First time doing a self upgrade) However once I installed correctly my computer worked great, My performance increased (partly due to the factory restore and partly due to the memory upgrade). I would recomend you buy this product as it's also value for money and whilst I haven't used the support line the support has great reviews. Just to note though i've only upgraded for about 2 weeks now and it seems to be working fine so i'm not too sure on the long term (1 year +) performance.

The instructions were clear and precise and it is particularly important how Crucial make it clear about the pressure needed to install these memory cards. At first it seems near impossible without getting the hammer out but Crucial's instructions, advice and tips made the job a breeze without me having to worry about whether I applied too much pressure to the memory card. Fantastic all round.
