I wanted to upgrade my PC but not being a technician, was at a loss as to what memory would run with the current one. Having had a look at the usual websites I was presented with all sorts of technical terms like ECC and non buffered, DDR2, DDR, DDR3 etc, and I was reluctant to order something that might not work on my PC. So I was pleasantly surprised when I visited the Crucial.com website and downloaded a small program that checked my PC and not only identified the exact motherboard but even the fact that I had a spare slot to insert additional memory. It then identified the exact type of memory that would suit my PC. All this without even having to open my PC case!The ordering process on the Crucial website was a breeze and the whole process took me only 5 minutes. [...] I was able to insert it onto the motherboard within 10 minutes and everything is working fine and there are no compatibility issues. My PC is running a lot smoother and faster now with the additional ram and the best bit was that the memory I ordered was reasonably priced too. Full marks to Crucial for a fantastic service, I will not only order from them again but also recommend them to all of my friends and relatives.

The real benefit came from the increased speed resulting from the doubling of system memory from 4 to 8Gb and the effect of this in handling large files in Photoshop. A 1Gb file could be copied in 10 seconds compared with over 2.5 minutes before !

My PC was starting to struggle with memory space, kicking me out of programmes, generally starting to slow up. The Crucial tool worked out very quickly which memory I needed and suggested some options, including what would work best. I ordered the top choice. Easy. There is not much you can say about Ram, it either works or it doesn't. This worked very well, although some of my games didn't like having this ram and my old ram together. So I have ended up taking out the old ram and running with just the new.

Had issues with the RAM chips at first but this was not down to the product itself, just had to make a few minor adjustments to the BIOS. After that the product worked perfectly and has increased the speed and performance of my my PC greatly.

I bought this to speed up my computor as it was getting to the point of being too slow to use!
I was recommended (by cruical) to buy 2 of these but once installed the computor wouldnt work. With help from a computor whiz friend, its working with one of the 2GB ram, speed has increased and a refund was aquired for the second ram with no problems.

Let's face it - Windows was NEVER designed to run in an active environment for more than 12 months - it simply cloggs up whatever it's running on. Furthermore, more and more application designers take advantage of .NET and Microsoft SQL Server Express and therefore become increasing memory hungry. Manufacturers of hardware components must be ever grateful to Microsoft! I had 2 x 512MB RAM in my PC and, true to form, it was becoming a real snail. Adding the inexpensive 2GB, to take her to 3GB RAM in total has certainly had the desired effect and will delay the day when the awful anguish and pain of reinstalling Windows must be tackled. I always recommend Crucial to customers and friends. The system-checker isn't always right but 9 times out of 10 it can be relied upon.

I am not really a "techy".
Using the download tool told me the memory that I could install.
The instructions that came with the memory modules were comprehensive and explained in detail the precautions that I needed to take.
Literally the process from start to finish could be performed by the most timid soul!
The only (very) minor carp would be the modules arrived in about a week rather than next day.
Overall I would recommend Crucial very highly.

I've read many times that the best upgrade and the place to start is to provide your system with more memory of the best quality you can afford, I've doubled my systems' memory to 4GB, the max the motherboard can take. Everything runs so much more smoothly, a fine improvement for a modest outlay.

Please remember that it's only Windows 64bit or Linux that can handle more than 4Gb of memory. Windows 34bit only supports 4Gb, but often shows only 3.6Gb of usable memory.

I Added extra memory because I changed to a 64 bit operating system, now things really 'fly'.
Very easy to fit, just be careful with anti-static precautions which are fully explained in the accompanying instructions.
Thoroughly recommended.

After installing the memory and switching the PC on, all we got was beeping sound from the PC. Tried different permutation of the memory but same result. Contacted Crucial technical support who suggested I try single memory module at a time. This identified one of the memory modules in the kit to be faulty.

There were just ten minutes between taking the memory out of the packaging, installing it and then checking it had been recognised by Vista. The on-line tool made confident I had selected the right modules and led to me placing the order. The only doubt was whether or not these CL6 modules would be compatible with the CL4s I'd already installed. (They were).

The difference it made in upgrading from 1 to 2GB of memory was the best PC move I have made in a long while.Should have done it yonks ago.

I was running out of memory on my motherboard due to more intensive apps (64bit Vista and image editing mainly). I had 4 modules of 512Mb in the motherboard so replaced two of these with 2 x 2Gb. Very straightforward install... Anyone could do it. Switched on machine and combined ram of 5Gb ... sorted! I've used Crucial a few times in the past and I particularly like the utility that matches your motherboards spec to the memory spec offered by Crucial. Gives me lots of confidence that I'm getting the right memory matched to my motherboard.

The scanner utility is very useful (and clever!), but it could be enhanced to check the OS installed and whether it can see the recommended amount of RAM. I installed 4GB, but XPSP2 can only see 3.25GB on my system.
Only after installation did I discover that Win x64 would be needed to see the full 4GB.

The manual for my Motherboard stated that only 2GB of memory could be fitted. I ran Crucials' test and it told me I could fit 4GB. I ordered the extra memory and it arrived [...] well packaged. Fitted in a couple of minutes, worked a treat. There is definately an improved performance, although I haven't tested it properly yet. Without crucials' test I would still be running at half available RAM, nice job, thanks.

Using this memory on my Q6600 quad core and what a difference it has made. I bought a pair of these to use along side of 2gb I already had installed. Everything seems to be much quicker and smoother now. Best upgrade I have done.

I wanted to upgrade my AMD Athlon 64 x 2 Dual Core
3800+ that only had 1gb of memory. I have a AM2NF6G-VSTA motherboard with Window Vista 64 OS. The prices were really keen, so I upgraded to 7 gb. My son was able to install it very easily and the improved performance is amazing, it is unbelievably quick.

Initial installation of new Crucial 2 X 2Gb together with existing 2 X 1Gb memory modules did not result in the overall 6Gb memory expected.
Crucial Technical assistance resolved the problem by describing exactly how the modules should be installed and recommending that the latest computer manufacturers BIOS drivers should also be downloaded and installed.

I decided to increase my memory from 3 Gb to 8GB which the motherboard can take, but have since found out that Windows XP can only read 3GB - therefore the additional memory I put in was of no real benefit. Having said that, I am using a faster module therefore my computer has benefitted from the purchase

If you are new to PC memory upgrading, you may find adding more memory a somewhat daunting task, if however you have experience in doing this it’s a fairly easy process, some basic PC upgrade knowledge required, or someone that has some experience in fitting new/additional memory.
This is good quality stable memory, but not the fastest available.
If you are using a 32bit operating system (most current operating systems) adding more than 3GB will be a waste of money as there is a maximum memory limit of approximately 3GB, most Windows 32bit operating systems will only see approximately 3.25GB of RAM
If you are using a 64bit operating system, such as XP or Vista 64 bit add as much as you can afford as long as you motherboard can support it, most modern motherboards will support 8GB or more, check the motherboard specifications.

I fitted this ram at the same time as a new processor. I went from an amd x2 4200 with 2GB of 533 ram to an amd x2 6000 with 4GB of 800 ram. Both improved multitasking abilities of vista. Since I'm using the 32 bit vista only first 3gb of ram were available, but the increase in ram clock speed, and 33% increase in available ram certainly helped. A quick and easy upgrade with good results.
