I can't afford a new Mac so to update mine as far as is possible is next best the increase in memory from 1 GB to 2 GB has made a noticeable difference. it works so well I don't notice its there other than for things to be happening rather more quickly.

My working Mac fried so had to rejuvenate an old redundant laptop so I could continue outputting jobs. Boosted the memory by installing Crucial kit, which I choose because of price! This laptop was used try out the Mac platform for work use. It originally had 512 mb RAM which was fine for basic use with Leopard but scrolling was very jumpy with large documents and multiple applications made it too slow for productive use.

After replacing the RAM with 2 GB of these chips it became very usable with multiple docs and applications, even when handling a stream of music from Spotify. Well worth it.

I bought two for full upgrade of a single 512MB card in my 5-year-old 1.25 GHz G4 15" aluminium PowerBook. Only upper slot seen by computer: lower slot reported "empty" even with memory in it. Learnt that this is a common fault on old PowerBooks: visit http://lowermemoryslot.editkid[@] and sign the petition to Apple.I suggest you buy just one, or first check your machine can see both filled slots simultaneously.
