I added the memory stick in slot B giving me 1.5GB. It didn't work. I replaced the 512MB stick in slot A with the new one. It didn't work but reported that the available memory was 512MB instead of 1GB. I replaced the old stick in slot A and all was OK again.

PS I observed all the requirements about fitting, including those concerning static.
