Our old Dell Dimension 3000 was crawling. It took nearly 1/2 an hour to boot up and often crashed / programs hung.

I tried all sorts of things including deleting unused programs and cutting programs from the startup menu.

Installing this RAM has brought new life to our aging machine. Boot time is now just a couple of minutes and the system is much more stable. Wish I had done this sooner.

The memory was very easy to install. There was a simple guide supplied with the memory to help you install it.

Once installed, and booted, the CMOS setup automatically detected the memory change. Windows XP automatically altered the paging file size for the virtual memory.

This is the second time I've used Crucial to upgrade Dell machines, and I'm sure it wont be the last.

I recently installed 2x1Gb memory upgrades for my Dell Dimension 3000.

I approached the install with some trepidation. Would I need to change the BIOS settings(!!!)? Could I remove the PC lid without breaking it?

Well in fact the lid slid off easily, and the old memory was just as easily removed. As stated in the installation instructions, the new memory required a little pressure to push into place (make sure it's lined before applying the pressure though).

And that was it, save for some careful dust removal. Two beeps upon reboot, and we were up and running. Performance, although not utterly transformed (Antivirus?), is very much improved. At just over £60, a far more cost effective solution than a new PC. And no premature addition to landfill either. Thoroughly recommended.

My 2005 Dell Latitude with 512 MB of RAM had slowed down to snail's pace after BT Broadband switched to providing McAfee security (judging from IT forums, that's a common experience). After fitting 2MB of Crucial memory, the Dell is back to its original (fast) speed and seems good for a few more years yet. Much cheaper than buying a new computer.

I had a little trouble fitting the memory until I worked out you have to press *firmly* at one end so it slides in under the clip, then you press *firmly* on the other end and it will settle in and fit. I'm not a techie but the process of removing the computer cover and fitting the memory was straightforward.
