This was an upgrade from 512mb of ram on a system that had been put away as being too slow. The upgrade allowed an install of Windows 7 and Office 2010 and the improvement in performance means that it has now extended the life of a once tired laptop.

My son recommended Crucial to update the memory on my lap top. I'm so pleased he did as from using the scanner to find the correct memory upgrade to installing it, everything was so easy to do.My lap top is now much more responsive.

yes, the 32-bit OS only recognises 3Gb at the moment, but will shortly wipe and install x64 of Windows 7 - so all 4Gb will be in use shortly.

I know there were warnings on the site about checking maximum supported memory. However, there should have been a more noticeable definite warning that on 32 bit systems you can not use 4 Gbytes of memory as the BIOS reserves the high-order memory space. So in most systems 3 Gbytes is the most that should be purchased. Thus I was sold more memory than I can utilise.
