The memory chip worked well on its own in the Tosh Sat L30 but it was not compatible with the 512MB chip currently installed so I had to remove it, Giving me 1GB of ram not 1.5GB which I was expexting for my customer. This was not shown by your memory scanner results.

Well I bought the extra RAM more to help Mac OS X on a dual boot x86 system. It really didn't seem to have much impact on OS X which surprised me somewhat. However I actually am a regular user of Windows XP Pro SP3 and the performance on that is pretty smooth now so yes it did help. Oh and I have switched my virtual memory off too that helps so so much with performance

I installed this upgrade into a laptop with vista that only had 512 installed from new.
unfortunately the 512 could not be read with the 1Gb installed but it still made a superb difference

My laptop used to run very slow and freeze frequently. I have recently installed Windows 7 instead of Vista which made a lot of difference but after installing 1GB extra RAM it is like a new computer. Start up is very quick and general use has improveed greatly.

I purchased the recommended upgrade by Crucial for my Toshiba L30 and it worked a treat.Easy fitting as long as you dis-connect the power/battery and earth yourself by touching the metal casing to rid your static, you cant go wrong. Worth the effort just to be sane again after the slow slog of a bad responding laptop, its now a different machine.

I used Crucials web site to see how much RAM I already had in my Toshiba laptop, it also told me the max RAM that it would take, and offered me various options to upgrade my RAM.
I upgraded from 516 Meg to 2 Gig (the maximum)and my laptop speed has increased significantly, it's a different machine! No more frustrating waiting while I wonder "what is it doing now?"
Crucial was recommended to me by an IT expert, he was right, and I too recommend Crucial.

The online compatibility tool was extremely useful when buying ram for my girlfriend's laptop. Some people with the same laptop seem to have had problems with certain brands/types of RAM, however I am pleased to say that I have had nothing but flawless performance with the RAM from Crucial.

1Gb stick, config advice was it would work perfectly with default 512mb stick. Well it worked but only had 840 mb ram - remove 512mb stick & still only had 840mb ram - massive performance improvement though but I now have spare 512mb stick.

This 1Gb RAM was selected using the crucial tool. The laptop already had a 512 Mb RAM in one slot the other being empty. When the crucial RAM was installed the system did not recognise the original 512Mb RAM only the new crucial 1Gb RAM. This occurred no matter which slot each chip was in. I later found from an internet search that crucial chips are not always compatible with existing Toshiba chips.
So I requested a return from Crucial and have received a full refund. I ordered an original 1Gb RAM from the laptop manufacturer that worked first time and showed 1.5Gb RAM.
Laptop is now much faster.
To their credit whilst the crucial RAM did not work for my laptop, Crucial did stand by their refund promise.

No problems except I was planning a 2MB upgrade but the Toshiba would not accepts the 2nd chip, even upgrading the bios did not work. I was told I could send the 2nd chip back but used it in my daughters laptop instead.
