My hobby is photography and post production using Photoshop. I was getting insufficient memory messages when carrying out tasks on RAW files. The difference that extra memory has made to my work will be a great asset. The only problem I had in fitting was getting through the tangle of cables which is usual in any PC.

Bought to upgrade a friend's 4/5 year old PC. It was crying out for more memory running only 1GB in 2x512 strips. With a budget of £30 he opted to go for 2x1GB strips in addition to the originals.
Basically, tripleing it's RAM, the machine has a new lease of life running 3GB, nice and quick and worthy of a few more years home use.
Simple plug in installation, instructions are included if you're not sure/haven't done this before and cost effective.
I've used Crucial before for previous memory upgrades, wouldn't hesitate if you're thinking about it.

As soon as i powered up i noticed the difference this part made and has not let me down since, even though i am a heavy PC user. Well worth the money as it has saved me hours of confusion and anger already. I really recommend buying this to give your PC a quick, easy and cost-effective tune up.

Having picked up a faulty desktop computer on Ebay for £42, I soon realised the fault was caused by the memory. I used the memory selector at Crucial which recommended the correct memory for my motherboard. I purchased 2 x 1Gb 240 pin DIMM, DDR2 PC2-5300 memory cards and installed them into the system. I powered up the system and it came to life. I ran Memtest86-4.10 on the system overnight which proved a stable system before installing Vista 64. The system runs smoothly and I expect it will for years to come. I chose Crucial for my memory because I have always used their memory in the past and have always received a reliable product.

Having a fast WiMax connection my PC with only 1Gb of RAM lagged behind what the internet could provide. I swapped my RAM for two matched 1Gb modules from Crucial and the difference is noticable: now it's the 'net which is slower than my PC. Graphics are much faster and the PC is generally livelier. Anyone with XP should do this upgrade and double their RAM: easy enough to do and remarkable value for money.

The cost of this memory upgrade was inexpensive and it has vastly improved the performace for a P4 3Ghz pc, that is running windows xp with service pack 3.5

My system was quite adequate when first bought in 2007, but Vista and my increasing interest in video making were taxing the hard drive and the poor thing was spinning almost constantly. Ordered an extra 2 x 1GB to add to the 2 x 512 already in my Dell as recommended by the scan. However, I kept getting a blue screen. Tried lots of things, even reinstalling operating system. Took the extra 2 GB out and no probs. Took the 2 x 512 out and replaced with the 2GB and again no probs. Seems there is a compatability issue witht the crucial RAM and the Dell RAM. I am now running on the 2 x 1GB and the 2 x 512 are of no use to me. The Crucial scan recommended this yet they were not compatable with my existing RAM. Disappointed. Decided to upgrade exixting RAM memory, but what type. Downloaded the search program and ran it which told me I had at least three options. I decided to go for the top option, instal max RAM suitable for my machine and ordered at 01:00 in the morning. Checked on line later same day status of order to be informed order was ready for collection for Royal Mail.[...]instructions included on how to fit. Memory was safely packed and took literally no more than ten minutes to open up the computer, remove old RAM memory (1 board) and input the two new memory boards. Computer warned on start-up of new memory configuration and continued to load and operate as a brand new high speed power computer. Cannot fault the system.

When I received the recommended 3 X 1Gb strips of Ram I installed them. My computer wouldn't then boot up Windows but showed a 'Crtical Error. I then removed my old 1 Gb strip which gave the same result. I can get it to work if I only install just 2 x 1Gb of the new ram strips. So at present I'm am not using one of my new 1 Gb strips and my original 1 Gb strip. Any advice would be appreciated.

I bought this memory to replace one that I thought was faulty. However, it exhibited the same fault symptoms. After very useful email discussion with your Customer Service you said you would accept a return and I have had my money fully refunded. Thanks.
For the record I bought a motherboard off Ebay and the old memory worked fine in that.

I have little doubt that the memory you sent was excellent for purpose. I shall certainly return when I have memory requirements again.

I was getting the PC ready for Windows 7 . although I could not confirm the product type the online chat service and a software tool identified all this and more. Used Crucial before quality product [...]. Only con the online help chat is not easy to find, its in the ordering area.

The product is excellent, though it required a little more force than normal to ensure a good seating.
At first I had an alarm but this was because of not taking sufficient spinach before installation.
I thought at first this was an incompatibility with existing Kingston chip, but clearly not the case as all is working well now
If you do get an alarm, I suggest you re-seat before calling for help.

Slight increase in speed, much better performance but a bit fiddly to install if you have big thumbs! Otherwise, relatively easy, even for a novice like me and well worth the effort.
