Crucial website identified two RAM slots in the laptop for 4Gb upgrade. On installation there was only one RAM slot so stayed with a 2Gb upgrade. Inspect your machine before ordering.

I'm very pleased with this upgrade - quick, cheap and effective. I bought a bog-standard Vostro 1500 with 1Gb and it was starting to lag starting up and especially running larger programs. I think getting to the memory under the keyboard could be tricky, but replacing the 512Mb card on the base was a piece of cake, giving a total of 2.5Gb. I can't think of any reason not to do this upgrade.

after buying a dell laptop out of the box running vista it was clear that i need more memory then 1gb the supplied. the memory solved the problems i experienced.

im still waiting for the 'wow' factor promised by the use of windows vista though.
