I've never been a fan of doing anything hardware related due to the potential for complications, but decided to try installing some RAM to try and breathe some life into an old computer, and the process was pretty much as described - remove cables from computer, open case, clip RAM into appropriate slots, and reconnect the computer. Job done in 15-20 minutes, with great end results and no hassle!
