I bought this memory because my ageing laptop had become so annoyingly slow . I was going to buy a new laptop until the salesman in an electrical shop suggested upgrading the memory. Dell did not have any memory suitable for my laptop in stock! Crucial were then recommended by a friend. I was going to replace my ageing Dell Inspiron with its 512MB of memory but, for a relatively small amount of money, it has a new fast track life with the 2GB upgrade from Crucial. A simple task to do, just follow Crucials instructions and read the Dell owner's manuel. The Dell now runs as fast as my son's brand new replacement laptop which cost him many hundreds of pounds and I haven't had a frozen screen since the chips went in. Result.

I got this product to extend the life of my Dell 6000 inspirion. It was so slow after OS changes and would cliped video and audio during playback. With the upgrade it is much better at all media application. Still not quite 100% as fast as I would like but it is about 4 years old now so thats what Id expect.

I had a bit of a trouble installing the memory modules. At first they did not work. After placing them in the bay couple of times, they worked fine. I had not noticed this when I bought my first upgrade from Dell (512 MB --> 1 GB)I think due to slight difference in the size of the module against the connector, this could have happened. After i pressed the module in the bay the problem resolved.
I was using 1GB memory on my Inspiron 6000 laptop which I upgraded to 2 GB using this product. Before I upgraded, I read a KBA from Microsoft about page file location. (Locating on separate HDD, Separate Partition than System partition) I had implemented it. Therefore the performance had already improved largely before I used this product. This product however improved the performance bit further. Not very significantly noticable in normal operation, but while using multimedia (ITunes) or multiple operations, I could see the difference. Also I could increase the page file size which further improve the performance.
Therefore my analysis is that this is reasonably okay, but other changes can also make significant improvements like having good antivirus, page file relocation, User Data relocation on other partition, defragmenting the HDD etc. But in long run this should also give better performance.

I bought this memory kit to update a fairly ageing laptop. Installation (Dell Inspiron 6000) could not have been easier and the new memory was recognised on re-boot. I cant say I have noticed a huge improvement in speed but the system does seem more stable.

I found this an EXCELLENT buy. It has really increased the speed of my 3.5 year old Dell Inspiron 6000 with its previous 512Mb RAM being upgarded to 2MB. It means I shall get a good few years more use out oof it as my back-up computer.

I find the AVG virus scanning takes a lot less time and generally the responses for applications are noticably faster.

Easy to install thanks to the clip supplied by Which? magazine, and Criticals scan of my machine to state clearly and precisely what type of RAM I could use and how much RAM my laptop could take (2GB), thus providing everything I needed to know, giving this amateur confidence to try it out.

Do yourselves a favour and upgrade your RAM for very little outlay. It's easy and a heck of a lot cheaper than buying a new laptop.

Very simple to install. Just 2 screws to remove.
I'm always using multiple applications. It feels a bit faster, but no huge difference noted. Nearly 3 weeks after install now and no problems so far. BTW I also upgraded my HD about a week after the memory upgrade 80GB -> 320GB and that did speed things up noticably.

Installation is very straight forward in the Dell Inspiron, took about 3 minutes max.

This was a memory upgrade for my Laptop from 216MB to 2GB. I know little about the insides of PCs but these memory chips were very easy to install, the instructions were clear and easy to follow. I feel the price was excellent and the big thing to me is that it is now a pleasure not a pain to use my Laptop. I now don't even get any complaints from the computer literate generation in the household ![...] I cannot think of a single thing that I am not totally satisfied with.
