I am a freelance journalist and was struggling along with an underpowered MacBook. The lovely chap from the Genius bar in the Apple shop recommended I increase the RAM. He showed me the Crucial website and talked me through what to order and how to install it. I took his advice and rather nervously did the installation. It was fiddly but perfectly achievable and my laptop is now a joy to use.
I have already recommended Crucial to a friend.

The chips came with rather too much packaging but at least they were protected. Fitting them was a breeze (thanks Apple) and the increase in performance is fantastic. I bought a second user Macbook which had the standard 512 RAM installed. The machine now goes like lightning. Great product (and price!).

This was a great purchase that has breathed life into my laptop that was starting to slow a little. The memory works brilliantly and has increased the speed and performance ten-fold. The only issue you may have with the memory is fitting it. When you follow the video and it tells you to push the cards into the slot, they MEAN push. It is a surreal moment using so much force on what seems so delicate an object but once you hear a click in the housing you're away. An obvious choice if you want to upgrade!

I wanted to max out my memory to increase my performance in Logic Express and Final Cut Express. As every now and again these would crash on me and say 'system overload' and rendering would take a long time. Now i no longer have these problems. GREAT!

The RAM itself is great but for a MacBook you need to push hard to make sure they insert correctly. The first time I didn't have it in properly and battery movements would reset the laptop.

Make sure to push hard to get each stick in fully.
Online guides (non-Apple) actually say something like:
"Push harder than you think is sensible for such an important piece of kit"
After a 2nd attempt it is working perfectly.

I've now max'ed out my MacBook at 2GB and has been running with no particular problems for a few weeks.

Before it had 1x1GB, 1x256MB (from the previous owner!) so I'd expected to see XBench benchmark better CPU->RAM throughput as it should now be able to work in a genuinely dual-channel configuration, but it didn't seem to make more than 1-2% difference which is within the error margins of XBench anyway. YMMV for performance, but for maxing memory it's fine.
