As i am disabled and not up to this task, i asked afriend to help, He got the case opened and tried to enter the specified slots.He said it really hard to get the board inserted, and said i'll try that one before i put the second one in.The comp. would start ie cooling fans etc were activated but then it would stop-no signal to monitor this cycle just kept recycling.Advice from manuf. have it checked at pc world, who said the motherboard was u/s.Friend said he noticed it bending as he tried to force it in!and i'm not sure if he read the install.inst.So i can't give any rating at all.

The free download utility showed me exactly what I had installed and offered me several choices for upgrade. I very quickly realised that an upgrade to 3 GB of RAM by the addition of two 1 GB chips was the best option for me. I appreciate the advice I was given that because I have the 32 bit version of XP my operating system would only be able to "see" 3 GB of RAM. Without this advice I would have probably put in the full 4 GB which would have cost me a lot more with NO added benefit.

I did not read the small print. Thought I was getting 2 x 1 GB cards for the price, and ended up with 2 x 500MB cards.
My fault for diving in, but nonetheless my PC performance has improved with no more struggles for available memory. Doug Tait.
