The upgrade was seen as needed because diagnostic reports on Advent 4489 Netbook all indicated that the 512 MB RAM was not adequate. Installation of a memory card for an Advent 4489 Netbook requires the removal of the entire base of the machine with attendant potential problems of static electricity, stray magnetic tools, etc. This is a daunting task for an amateur with no experience of undertaking such a job. Hence installation could be described as "difficult". However, with the assistance of appropriate guidelines from various websites (of which there are several with good illustrations) the task becomes feasible for the amateur. In addition, once the base of the netbook is removed (9 screws)the actual insertion of the card is simple (an illustration of the side clips is desirable to ensure a proper fit). The results have been a successful increase in RAM to 1.5 GB and a considerable improvement in performanmce and processing speed.

This item is easy to fit and install in to the Advent 4211. For those thinking of buying, this netbook has a spare SO-DIMM slot so can be added without removing the already present memory.
Just remove the battery and the nine screws on the laptops base (none hidden under stickers), then hinge the base cover off from left side (that power goes in to) to right. (Cover hooks over the top of the ports on the right).

Great boost to performance for minimal cost.
