1GB Upgrade for my Acer Aspire 1640 laptop from Crucial was very usefull. The increase in performance of the laptop with this additional memory was marked.
The selection of this product suited for my application from crucial website was very easy. After selecting the model of the laptop, all the suitable porducts just popped up from the website. While at the shop, the technician made me mumb with a volley of questions and demanded to see the laptop. Above all i got it cheaper from Crucial online and it was easy to install myself.
Seening the increased performance of my laptop with this additional memory, i think "i should have done it earlier".

The product was very easy to install but unfortunately I have too many other problems with the notebook e.g. intermittent key pad and slow broadband (found with new laptop). So I am not best placed to offer a balanced view on the product.

Needed to update a rather tired laptop, for backup usage and as a spare. The repacement of the existing 520mb RAM to 2GB (runing Win XP) has improved the performance to exactly what I needed. I have been buying Crucial RAM for many years and consider it to be good value and high spec.

I had hoped that increasing RAM from 1 GBytes to 2 GBytes would give a noticable improvement in performance, as has been the case when I have fitted Crucial modules to other machines. However, this time the improvement was not so great.

With only two slots avialble in this laptop it appears I have now reached the maximum memory possible. Would have liked to have gone up to at least 3GBytes.

Crucial's software easily identifies what memory is needed by scanning the computer. The order is an easy click process and the install requires undoing 4 small screws, inserting the new memory, reinsert the screws and restart the computer. The computer runs much faster and no longer "hangs". Almost as good as getting a new computer.
