Your AlphaServer ES-40 Model 2 System Specs

System specs as shipped by the manufacturer.
Scan your system to view your specific system configuration.

Memory:

Memory Type: ,  (non-ECC)
Maximum Memory: 32GB
Slots: 32

The 1GB set is offered with two types of SDRAMs, stacked and unstacked. The CT159829 uses stacked 64Mbit SDRAMs, and the CT189593 uses 128Mbit SDRAMs unstacked. Your system may have either stacked or unstacked modules as provided by the OEM. Mixing arrays of stacked and unstacked memory within this system is a concern. The 2GB and 4GB kits are using stacked components.

How much memory your Windows OS will recognize depends on which version of Windows you are running. 32-bit versions of Windows will see (and utilize) only 3GB or 3.5GB. To utilize more memory, install a 64-bit version of your OS. More information about OS memory maximums can be found here.

Memory or DRAM is the 'working' memory of the computer. It's used to store data for programs (sequences of instructions) on a temporary basis.
