Comments about Crucial 4GB kit (2GBx2) Upgrade for a Dell Inspiron 1720 System:

The memory was just what I needed to speed up my nearly 5 yrs old Dell Inspiron 1720 Laptop.

Had 2GB, now doubled to 4GB. Windows much quicker & other apps & internet use have become more responseive.

Although Crucial's & Dell's website told me my laptop could support this PC2-6400, 800Mhz DDR2 RAM, my laptop could only support upto 667Mhz PC2-5300 RAM.

So I originally thought the product was defective. I Recommend you check what your hardware supports more throughly before purchasing.

All in all very happy with this memory kit from Crucial & would recommend. I chose to buy this kit, instead of two seperate modules which I could have bought cheaper & felt from research that Crucial was a reliable & trustworthy cupplier. Also it was tested as compatible with my Dell laptop.

I should of upgraded RAM a lot sooner, price was good.

2 GB RAM and now works beautifully. However, left with a brand new 2GB RAM module (from the 4GB - 2 module kit)because I could only see space for 1 module chip. Like to maximize the full 4GB (2 GB module set) usage but no more space in the slot. Any good advice will be most appreciated.

Replaced the old 1GB RAM in my Dell Inspiron 1720 with a 2GB RAM module. Works brilliantly. However, I actually bought 4 GB (2 GB module kit)but when I opened the RAM chip cover/lid I could only see 1 module space. So I could only remove the original 1 GB module and put the new 2 GB module in. Now I am left with a brand new 2 GB RAM module and still hoping that I can find a way to slot this one in to maximize the 4 GB usage. Any good advice will be most appreciated!
